Orienteering

Today was the start of what we hope will be a long journey for Bolinda Primary School as eight of our students ventured into the world of orienteering at Woodlands Historic Park in Greenvale. Mr. Steere, alongside myself, had the pleasure of accompanying our students as they competed against students from other schools. It was terrific to see our students representing our school with pride and sportsmanship.

Orienteering, a challenging and fun activity, requires a blend of navigation, problem-solving, and teamwork. The Woodlands Historic Park provided an excellent venue for this event, which the students were not too familiar with. Our students embraced the challenge, demonstrating not only their navigational abilities but also their teamwork and resilience.

The feedback from the day was overwhelmingly positive. Our students not only had a fantastic time but also gained valuable experiences that extend beyond the classroom. We hope that orienteering becomes a staple of what we offer here at Bolinda Primary School. Thank you to Mr. Steere for organising and driving everyone there in the mini-bus kindly provided by School's Out!

Christmas Carols

As we step into the festive season, I  am very happy to share that Bolinda Primary School will be taking part in the Christmas Carols event on Saturday, December 9th, at 7 pm, on the northern oval of Romsey Primary School.

We are holding practices at school to learn, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. We invite all the children to participate on the night so if you're available, it would be absolutely terrific to see you there!

Western Water Competition

We had some exciting news about one of our students recently. Blake was recently judged first in the National Water Week poster competition. This competition was open to primary, kindergarten, and early learning students across Victoria's west. It encouraged students to creatively explore the theme of 'United by Water.'

The theme focused on the crucial role water plays in uniting individuals and communities. Students were given the creative freedom to express their interpretations using various art materials, mediums, or even technology.

Blake's outstanding entry not only caught the eye of our school community but also impressed the judges from Greater Western Water, who selected regional winners. It's worth noting that the competition spans a vast region, and our students compete with peers from numerous schools. Blake won a $50 gift voucher for his drawing which he told me, he used all of ia couple of days after receiving it.

Remembrance Day

Two of Bolinda Primary School's school captains, participated in the Remembrance Day ceremony in Lancefield held last Saturday. The event, held at the cenotaph, provided an opportunity for our young leaders to pay homage to the soldiers who made immense sacrifices for our freedom.

As the school captains assisted in laying wreaths at the cenotaph, they approached the task with the importance it deserved. By actively participating in such events, our students not only pay their respects but also strengthen the ties between the school and the broader community. This connection is crucial in imparting the lessons of history to the younger generation. By engaging with the RSL, our students gain a profound understanding of the sacrifices made by soldiers.

End-of-Year Concert

One of the highly anticipated events on our calendar is the End-of-Year Concert, scheduled for Tuesday, December 19th, at Gisborne Secondary College.

I've heard wonderful things about past concerts, and this year promises to be just as spectacular. The enthusiasm from both students and staff is contagious, as they work to create an entertaining evening full of dance, movement and laughs. We will share more details about the event, such as specific timings and logistics, closer to the date.

Participating in the Bolinda Primary School End-of-Year Concert is an opportunity for our students to shine, express their creativity, and build confidence. The children are buzzing with excitement, and their motivation to deliver entertaining performances is so terrific to see.

As the principal, I am personally looking forward to witnessing the talent, dedication, and spirit of our students on display. Of course, the evening is also significant as we farewell our Year 6 students as they head off to the next stage of their learning at secondary school. Stay tuned for further details, and get ready for a night of amazing performances!

Thank you,
