Year Five - Spotlight on Learning

 Dear Families,

Welcome to Week 8! One more week until camp!

 

Please make sure medications are given to Mrs Bellert on Monday with signed paper permission form (Paper copies available at school if required).

 

Please ensure students bring with them to camp:

  • a sun hat, sunscreen & insect repellent
  • a pillow, pillowcase & a sleeping bag
  • a refillable drink bottle
  • a plastic bag to put wet and dirty clothes in

Please ensure students leave their mobile phones, smart watches and electronics at home.  All food is provided on camp, so no snacks or lollies are required.

 

This week we are busy with our learning, rehearsing for Christmas Carols, getting ready for our Leadership Mass and our end of year performances. They are all looking and sounding great!

 

Mathematics: 

In maths we revisiting patterns and algebra. We are looking at different vocab such as factors and multiples.  

English: 

We have finished up with 'The Last Bear' and our persuasive letters. We are looking at the legend of King Arthur. 

Religious Education: 

In religion we have begun looking at advent and what advent means to people who follow the Catholic faith.

SEL:  

In Social and Emotional Learning, we are continuing out 'Inside Out 2' activities. They will be posted on Seesaw once we are done. We will also being doing a reflection of our social and emotional learning this year. 

Integrated Studies: 

We begin rehearsing this week for our end of year performances. They are looking great so far! Everyone is so engaged and also stepping out of their comfort zone. 

Auslan: 

We are learning about birds.

November 2024 Camp Information Year 5.

Title of excursion/camp:Grade 5 Camp Rumbug & Cape Paterson Bay Beach Activity.
Details of supervising staff:

Teachers in charge will be Esha Blake & Kate Dourley. 

Attending teachers will include; Lyndal Mihic, Christine Bellert, Brennan Burke, Andrew McDermott & Peta Overbury.ESO support will be provided by Christian Leggas, Alanah Musco, Zac Gulavin & Emile Grimwood.

Departure details:Depart School (basketball court)7am Thursday 5th December on the basketball court. 
Return details:Return to school (basketball court)5pm Friday 6th December at school.
Accommodation arrangements:

Students will be spending the night at Rumbug Camp: 90 Dollar -Woorarra West Road, Foster North

Students will need to bring a Sleeping bag and a Pillow with a pillow case on it.

Activities:

Whilst at camp students will take part in a variety of activities provided by the camp such as: Canoeing, Flying Fox, Giant Swing, Initiative exercises. 

We will be attending Water Safety activities on Friday, including LifeGuards, at Cape Paterson Bay Beach under the supervision of the Wonthaggi Life Saving Club.

A risk management plan has been developed by staff for this program and is available for parents to review on request.

If your child is not permitted to attend the activity, parents will be expected to have their child at home.  No home based learning will be supplied as this will be provided at the camp.
