Year 10 Outdoor Education

Bogong High Plains Bushwalk

On Thursday 7th & 8th November, students from the Year 10 Outdoor Education class completed an overnight hike in the Alpine National Park.

We started our trek from the ‘dam wall’ near Falls Creek, hiking the length of the Heathy Spur trail, before dropping down to camp near Fitzgerald’s Hut. Cold temperatures set in as soon as the sun went down, so the group made use of the hut to cook dinner, followed by plenty of yarns and stories.

The wind kicked up significantly at first light, so most students were up and about early, trying to get themselves warm in the brisk morning air. Packing up tents in the wind was certainly challenging! We walked back out the 9 kilometres to the bus, following a slightly different route the the day prior.

It was great to see all students enjoying their time in the outdoors and relishing in the challenge of carrying a pack and managing themselves in cold weather.
