Learning about Advent
Advent, beginning this year on Sunday, 1st December, marks a special time of preparation as we journey toward Christmas and the celebration of Jesus' birth. It is a season of hope, reflection, and joy, encouraging us to focus on our faith and share the light of Christ with others. The students have begun learning about Advent this week and the importance of this season.
"Advent starts this week. We light the candles every Sunday. We wait for Jesus. We light the white candle on Christmas Eve."
Aj and Jordan (Year 2A)
"The White candle means Christ. Sometimes light is white and Jesus is the light of the world. The wreath is a circle and represents God' everlasting love for us."
Olive and Grace (3KA)
"Each candle represents hope, peace, love and joy and the candles have specific names - the Prophecy Candle, Bethlehem Candle, Shepherd's Candle and the Angel's Candle"
Lucas and Harry (6A)
As families, this is a wonderful opportunity to pray together, perform acts of kindness, and deepen our understanding of God’s love during this sacred time. May Advent bring peace and blessings to your homes as we prepare our hearts for Christmas.
Loving God,
As we light the candles of this Advent season,
Fill our hearts with hope, peace, joy, and love.
Help us to prepare for the coming of Jesus,
Not just in our homes, but in our lives.
Teach us to trust in Your promises,
And to share Your light with others.
May our family grow closer to You
As we wait for the birth of our Savior.
Amen.
End of Year School Mass
As the school year draws to a close, we warmly invite you to join us for a special celebration of faith and community at our whole school End of Year Christmas Mass on Tuesday, 17th December at 11:30am. We will come together come together as a community in prayer and thanksgiving, reflecting on the blessings of the past year and preparing our hearts for the Christmas season. We will also take this time to announce our 2025 Student Leadership Roles, celebrating the achievements and contributions of our students as they step into these important responsibilities.
Year 5 Leadership Day
Our Year 5 students recently participated in a Student Leadership Preparation Day, where they explored and developed their leadership potential. The program called "Lead It", included activities focused on leadership exploration, team collaboration, and campaign creation, allowing students to reflect on the traits of great leaders, strengthen teamwork and communication skills, and design initiatives for positive change in our school.
The Year 5 students spent all day in the hall learning how to be a leader. We interacted with each other through fun and engaging games such as the 'card game'. Everybody got different pieces of cards and we had to piece them back together by trading different cards with each other. A normal whole card was 3 points and a whole joker was 10 points. This game helped us to learn how to problem solve, negotiate and make decisions as a group. We enjoyed the dominoes game and guess who game the best because we got to rely on each other, communicate effectively and work together to help the person to figure out who the "guess who" character was. The best part was when Mason McEwan was sitting out the front as the "guess who", and the whole class had to describe him and his personality without him knowing!! At the end, he turned around and found out that the person was actually him! He couldn't stop smiling because when he looked at all the positive things we said about him, he was really happy!
We are all excited to be leaders next year. The incursion taught us that even if we thought we wouldn't make a good leader, we actually do have our own strengths that make us all unique leaders. The day was also about using our strengths together as a unit to make important decisions and having opportunity to work with people we don't normally work with. It was such a fun way of learning important skills and I think we are ready for Year 6!
