Year 7 Encounter
The Years 10 and 11 Praise and Thanksgiving was an amazing evening following a successful year—a year filled with hard work, new challenges, and growth. We had the pleasure of recognising and celebrating students for their incredible contributions, whether academically, through their involvement in school life, or through their tireless effort and dedication. Throughout the evening talented students performed and we had the pleasure of hearing a thoughtful Year 10 reflection from Nadia Tin and Ashton Noordzy.
Jasper and I had the privilege of sharing our experience as Year 11s and highlighting the important events that occurred throughout the year. Staff, students and families had the honour of meeting our special guests, Mr Ivan McLean, Chief Operating Officer of the Anglican Schools Commission, Mr Jason Barron, President of the Parents and Friends Association, Mr Hugh Jones MLA, Lieutenant Commander Royal Australian Navy (Retired). We were fortunate to receive the blessing from The Right Reverend David Bassett, Assistant Bishop, Anglican Diocese of Perth. We truly love Praise and Thanksgiving. Knowing that we are within a school community that strives for greatness and celebrates one another creates the great warmth and loving community of JWACS.

Congratulations to our four teams of students who recently participated in the First LEGO League (FLL) Challenge. The FLL Challenge enables students to enhance skills in creativity, critical thinking, develop STEM based concepts and build habits of learning. During the Challenge, teams participate in an Innovation Project to identify, engineer and solve a relevant real-world problem. Our JWACS teams achieved exceptional results, bringing home Four trophies! Team NARWHAL were the overall winning team while team AQUA ZEN won the Robot game prize with the best score of 280 points on the day. Team NARWHAL will compete at the FLL National Championship West, held at Curtin University on 7 December.
Thank you to Mrs LeVaillant, Mr Fox and the Science Department for all their work and support with the teams to achieve such great success. Good luck to our JWACS team as they compete this weekend.
Our Year 7s had a fabulous time on their overnight Encounter at Manjedal! An opportunity to develop leadership, independence and responsibility, with students coordinating their own experience.
Working in groups, students planned menus, cooked meals, organised tents and equipment and decided what activities they would partake in. This Encounter symbolises the closing of a chapter in Year 7 and opening of a new one as our students transition into full secondary life in next year.
A very big thank you to our Co-Curricular Coordinator Ms Fowler, who organises the Encounter program across the School, it is a massive undertaking! Our students have had so many incredible experiences, and opportunities for growth, as a result of your efforts.
Below are some of the thoughts of the students regarding the Encounter:
Gursimar – I enjoyed the lake with my friends. It was fun spending time with everyone.
Talei – Talking with my tent group at night.
Kai – What I loved most at camp was spending time with friends and the independence of organising everything.
Emma – I enjoyed sleeping outside and listening to the nature at night.
Jarred – The hardest thing about camp was packing away the tent.
Jojo – The most challenging thing about camp was keeping our tent clean.
Lauren - The most challenging thing about camp was using the map to find my way to all the different activities.
Last Thursday, Year 10 students celebrated the end of the school year with a spectacular River Cruise. The evening was filled with laughter, dancing, and unforgettable moments against the stunning city skyline. The dance floor was the heart of the celebration, with students and even teachers showing off their best moves to a mix of hits. Off the floor, students enjoyed snapping photos, mingling, and savoring delicious refreshments as the sun set over the water.
A big thank you to the staff and organisers for making the night such a success! The River Cruise was a perfect way for students to celebrate their achievements and look forward to Year 11.
Year 9 students have being studying gothic literature as part of their end-of-year New Metric project. Last week, the Year 9s presented their 'Masters of Gothic Creations' display. Thank you to our amazing English teaching staff for a wonderful year of learning!
