Transition to Year 12

This week we ran a program designed to prepare Year 11s for Year 12. Here’s a quick recap of each daily adventure.

Monday: Guest speakers

Inspiring guest speakers shared their insights on wellbeing and resilience to give students practical strategies to navigate the emotional and mental challenges of Year 12 while emphasising the importance of self-care and balance.

Tuesday: Pure Adventure

Students ventured to the Swan Valley Adventure Centre where they pushed their limits and worked as a team in activities such as crate stacking, canoeing and the thrilling commando course. The day was filled with laughter, collaboration and a few sore muscles—a reminder of the strength and determination that Year 12 will require.

Wednesday & Thursday: Student choice

Students chose activities such as a visit to a university to explore future pathways or to stay on campus and learn circus skills or self-defence techniques.

In the afternoon, the cohort participated in the Walk the Bridges activity, navigating the Causeway and Narrows Bridges in small groups. Along the way, they tackled team challenges designed to foster problem-solving, communication, and camaraderie. This activity served as a powerful metaphor for the year ahead, reminding students that no matter the challenges they face, they are in this journey together.

Thursday: A meaningful conclusion

The week concluded on a powerful note with guest speakers from RAC, who shared life-saving road safety advice. This was followed by a final blessing from Father Gift, who inspired students to approach their final year with courage and faith. The highlight of the day was the distribution of heartfelt letters from parents. These personal messages brought a wave of emotions, reminding students of the unwavering support of their families as they take on the challenges of Year 12. There is indeed a circle of care around our Year 11 students as they take up the challenge of Year 12 in 2025.\

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and see you at the Ball!
