Year 9 & 10

Year 9: Adventures and achievements

This year was packed with fun, challenges and personal growth for our Year 9s. Our recent camp was a highlight, with students showcasing resilience, compassion and plenty of laughter. The flying fox, pamper pole and kayaking were clear favourites, but the team-building activities and quiz night made for unforgettable moments for the students as a year group. After all the action, the second night’s movie was a well-earned treat.

The Festival of Learning Week kept the energy going with the exciting “Spy School” challenge. Running through the city, solving mysteries and completing tasks, brought out a strong sense of creativity and teamwork across the many Year 9 Teams. From the Mask Task to Poster Ready and Show Me the Money, students created lasting memories.

This year, we have focused on Integrity and Honesty as our core values. These traits are vital building blocks for the future of our students. Year 9 can be challenging but I ask that each Year 9 student carries these character strengths proudly as they continue discovering who they are and perhaps more importantly whom they want to become.

I can notwait to see how Year 9s rise to the challenge of Year 10 and continue to offer them my full support.

Year 10: Reflecting on a milestone year

Congratulations to the Year 10 cohort on reaching the end of such an important year in their schooling journey. This year has brought with it its share of challenges — academic, sporting, social and emotional — but students tackled them head-on with determination and resilience and, along the way, friendships have deepened. I have been so proud to see our Year 10s grow into such a supportive and connected year group.

One of the standout highlights was this week’s Adventure Quest. Students spent the day at various city locations, executing weird and wonderful challenges such as the Upside Down Challenge, Optical Illusion Challenge, Blades of Glory and Not My Feet photographic challenge, to name just a few. You might have seen some of the results of the day on our Facebook Post. What it was, was a fun way to conclude the year before the increased demands and expectations of Year 11 and 12.

I wish all Year 10s and their families the very best as you move forward along your chosen pathways. Have a safe and restful holiday, and Merry Christmas to you all! I am very confident that you’ll love working with the Head of Year 11 & 12 – Mr Tim Hayward, however my door is always open to you and I am excited to see just what is possible for you next year.
