Year 7 & 8

New beginnings

And just like that the 2024 academic year concluded with an action-packed Festival of Learning.

For our Year 7 students the year has been one of new beginnings, exciting opportunities and emerging friendships.

For our Year 8 students the year has been one of change, increasing responsibility and strengthening friendships.

After working with our enthusiastic and talented Year 8 students across the past two years, I am incredibly proud to hand them over to Mr Brad Cotterell to continue their St George’s journey in Years 9 and 10.

There has been significant academic and social progress made by each of these students across their time in Years 7 and 8. Coming from more than 50 different primary schools initially, they are now a very distinct cohort of St George’s students.

When academic reports are released next week, I encourage families to read through these together. Celebrate the progress made in the grades, learning affectives and pastoral care comments and then set goals for following year to work towards.

I wish to thank our families for their continued support, and I know they will do the same for Mr Tom Dempers as he steps into the role of Head of Years 7 and 8 from the start of 2025, as I move to the role of Associate Dean of Students and Wellbeing. I will still be here at St George’s and still firmly involved in the pastoral care and wellbeing of our students.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you.
