Wise words of Grandma

My late grandma, Mary Lillian Thompson, was fond of saying:

“Pay attention, or you will miss all the good stuff worrying about tomorrow.”

I have found this expression to be true my whole life but especially as a teacher. I do try to stay in the moment and enjoy each day, even when my role requires looking ahead and planning.

I cannot put a figure on the number of new events and activities I have experienced during my first year at St George’s. But I do know I am looking forward to being part of them again next year when I can enjoy them even more.

This week, during the Festival of Learning, I joined the Year 11s at Swan Valley Adventure Camp during their “Transition to Year 12” activities. The students clearly enjoyed the day. Many thanks to all staff who contributed to this jam-packed final week of celebration and creative learning – especially our Heads of Year and Heads of House who once again crafted so many exciting and rewarding activities for our students.

I send my best wishes to those students and staff who have finished their time at St George’s Anglican Grammar School. Wherever your journey takes you, I wish you success.

And to all members of the St George’s Family, have a very Merry Christmas, a prosperous New Year and a restful summer break.
