A Joyful Finale

This term has been filled with numerous wonderful events, but the highlight for me is that our chapel, St George’s Anglican Cathedral, is the centre of it all.

As the incoming Year 7 students toured the Cathedral last week, I noticed their excitement and wonder at the building’s magnificence. I explained to them that this is the heart of our school — everything occurs here throughout the year, and we are privileged to have this beautiful space.

Just over a month ago we celebrated the graduation of our Year 12 students, and the Year 11 students stepped up admirably to take on student leadership roles. The exam period came and went, and on Monday, we held the 2024 Semester Two Academic Awards Assembly, followed by Presentation Evening on Wednesday, at St George’s Cathedral.

In between these events, we enjoyed the Festival of Learning in which students engaged in various activities guided by their teachers. It was a wonderful conclusion to the academic school year.

It is a good tradition to rejoice and give thanks to God for our accomplishments. In Luke 10, Jesus rejoices with His disciples when they return from their mission, celebrating their success in preaching the good news of the Kingdom of God, healing the sick, and casting out demons. Congratulations to all our students who received awards this term. Special recognition also goes to our teachers, who worked tirelessly to help them achieve their goals for 2024. For those who didn’t receive an award, let’s make it our aim to try again next year.

Enjoy the festive season with your family and friends. The greatest joy for me is that we all persevered together.
