Reaching our potential

Recently, I reconnected with a 2023 graduate who is thriving at university. She shared how self-reflection and learning from her experiences during her senior school years helped her achieve success. After transitioning from an ATAR pathway in Year 11 to the FlexiTrack High programme within the APEx pathway, she pursued her dream of studying nursing. Her hard work and determination have paid off: she consistently earns Distinctions and High Distinctions and has even been invited to serve as a university ambassador.

In Year 9 Pathways, we discuss the importance of adjusting one’s approach to achieve goals. Making a pivot doesn’t mean giving up; rather, it is about reassessing strategies to stay on course. As your child receives feedback on exams and coursework, now is the perfect time to evaluate their strengths and consider how they can adapt to realise their aspirations.

We encourage open and supportive conversations about your child’s academic journey and future goals. Celebrating their successes and addressing challenges fosters a resilient and adaptive mindset. These reflective practices not only enhance their current studies but will also equip them with lifelong skills to navigate future opportunities and setbacks.

As we finish the year, together let’s continue to inspire our students to reach their full potential and embrace the opportunities ahead.
