Grade 6 Reflections

Below are our Grade 6s speeches from Graduation

Felix:

Good afternoon everybody. I’m Felix and I’m a school captain. I have been at Ceres for almost 3 years.

On my first day I was a bit nervous, but thanks to the amazing great and kind people at Ceres, I was able to fit right in.

Some of my favourite memories from the past few years included going to Canberra when we went to the A.I.S/ AKA Australian institute of sport which had a bunch of cool sports games.

Another favourite memory of mine was doing our taste of the world market where we all chose a country and we made a treat of food from our country and I chose Switzerland and made Bircher muesli.

Next year I’m going to St Joseph‘s and I’m both excited and worried about going.

I am ready to start my High School journey, but before I finish here, I would like to give a huge thanks to all of the outstanding teachers and staff who have helped me along the way, so even though I’m going to high school next year, Ceres will always be the place for me.

Thank you.

Shunti:

Good evening, Parents, teachers and students. My name is Shunti and I am a media captain with Paddy.

Wow, What a journey it has been. When we first walked through the doors of this school, we were all a little nervous, But look at us now.

We’ve grown, we’ve learned and we’ve overcome challenges. Every one of us has made memories that will last a lifetime. Some of my favourite memories by far came from Canberra camp. Five days filled with friends and fun activities was the best.

Next year I will be going to Matthew Flinders girls school. Transitioning into high school will be a great opportunity to broaden my horizons by making new friends, contributing in new activities and developing new skills. Although it may be daunting, I will do my best to thrive in every way possible.

I would like to thank my fellow year sixes. We have spent the past seven years laughing and playing together and although we all may not be the best of friends, we have always found a way of getting along. I will miss you all very much.

Finally, I would like to thank the amazing Ms Petzke for being one of the best teachers ever. I am so glad that you could be my teacher for my last year at ceres. I will miss you so much.

So, let’s not say goodbye. Instead, let’s say *thank you* to our school, to each other, and to all the people who have helped us along the way.

Congratulations to all the Year 6 students for making it this far and good luck for the future.

Thank you.

Paddy:

Good evening everyone, my name is Paddy.

This year I have been a media captain and I have had lots of fun speaking at assemblies and running activities on well-being days.

Here are some things I have enjoyed over my past 3 years at ceres.

Going to Canberra camp last year was awesome! We went to the Australian sports institution, played basketball and lots of other cool things

Canberra camp was a great time and I wish I could go back again and experience all the great things Canberra has to offer.

All the SSA events were awesome as well, my favourites were SSA basketball, SSA soccer, and last years SSA nippers.

Thank you to Miss Petzke for teaching me for the last two years, and to Mr Robert’s and Ms Goward for teaching me in 3/4.

My first memory at Ceres was being given a tour of the school by Isaac and Aiden.

Next year I am going to Christian college and I am looking forward to meeting lots of new people.

Have a good rest of your evening.

Thank you.

Lachy:

Good afternoon everyone. I hope you’ve had a good day so far.

It's been a pretty good year for all of us.

I’m one of the environment captains this year.

I’ve been at Ceres for two years and it’s been super good.

I’ve made loads of friends, and loads of good memories like playing with all my good mates everyday. A special thanks to Baxter for being a great friend.

My best memory is SSA Nippers because it was so fun going in the ocean and all the games we played.

Ceres has been heaps of fun but I’m really looking forward to next year when I’ll be starting at Iona. And it will be great hanging out with Sam in the school yard next year.

Thank you Miss Petzke for teaching me and Mr Callaghan for keeping our school looking good.

Thank you.

Aiden:

Good evening everybody, I'm Aiden, and I’m an environment captain.

I've been at Ceres since 2017, and I’d like to tell you some of my favourite memories.

I’ve made one of my best friends, Harry M, who was a great friend and was always by my side, knowing the consequences.

More of my favourite memories include going to Canberra camp for a great 5 day adventure, and going to flip out, Parliament House, and AIS while there.

All of this while having a great time with some of my best friends for years.

My whole journey at Ceres has been a blast and I can’t imagine not seeing all of my friends and the staff everyday.

I also want to say Ceres is the best school, and I would recommend it to hundreds of other people. The teachers and staff are surreal and always try their hardest to teach everybody in the school.

I’m going to Grovedale College next year, and it feels like I shouldn’t be in year 6, preparing for my High School journey, but I guess the time has just flown by.

Even though I’m leaving Ceres, it has a special place in my heart, and it always will.

Ruby:

Hi everyone I’m Ruby and I’m both proud and excited to stand here tonight at our 2024 year 6 grad.

It feels like only yesterday that I walked through the gates on my very first day as a little Foundie. And now I’m here about to go off to high school.

This year I have been a well-being captain with Cruze and Baxter. We have had an awesome time running activities and fun days.

One of my favourite memories is of Canberra camp when we were all in our room about to go to bed. Somehow and I have absolutely no idea how but Shunti managed to flush my clothing down the toilet! We also did many other fun things on our 5 day adventure in Canberra.

Last year we had an incredible and delicious taste of the world market where we all created texts on our chosen country and brought in food to share with our class and some other teachers. It was very yummy. I chose Belgium so I made hot waffles, a chocolate ganache and jam. We all had lots of fun creating this memory.

We have made so many friends throughout the years here, we have all come so far since our first day and we have everyone in this room to thank for it. I am so grateful for all your help and guidance throughout my time at ceres.

Next year I’ll be going to Sacred Heart. Just because I’m leaving doesn't mean that Ceres won’t always hold a special place in my heart. And although it may be daunting going off to someplace new and different, let's not forget how many amazing memories we have made.

This is not the end of a chapter but instead the start of a new adventure. Lastly I would like to wish all the best to my fellow year 6s in their years to come.

Thank you.

Cruze:

Hello, I’m Cruze,

This year has been crazy, just like every other year!

This year, I was a Well-being Captain, and it was awesome.

This year has definitely been the best, even though I’ve only been here for a few months.

I’ve made a lot of great friends here, and most of them are in this very room.

Last year, we went to Canberra for a week, and I loved it!

One of my first memories was going into the hedge with Isaac, Sam, Baxter, Paddy, Felix, Aiden, Aidan C, and Hayden.

Next year, I’ll be going to Discovery Christian College in Agnes Water, QLD, which I am looking forward to.

A big thank you to all the teachers who have taught us, but especially to Miss Petzke. Thank you for all your time and support.

Sam:

Good evening, everyone!

My name is Sam and I am one of the Sports captains.

I’m very excited to be here with my fellow classmates, teachers and parents.

It’s crazy to think that we’re graduating.

It feels like yesterday that we were lining up to go into the prep room on my first day.

One of my favourite bits of being a sports captain was when Isaac and I were cleaning out the sports shed and we found lots of cool sports equipment, we even had a bat with a baseball bat.

I also loved running games on the oval and basketball court.

One of my favourite parts of being at this school was the taste of the world market, when we got to try amazing food from all over the world. I made a tasty dessert with marshmallow cookies.

I also loved going to Canberra camp with last year’s grade 5/6. The best bits of Canberra camp was Questacon. My favourite thing there was the giant slide and the earthquake room.

I also loved the A.I.S. My favourite bit was the basketball and the bobsled.

Next year I’m going to Iona with Lachy and I’m very excited to go.

I would like to thank Miss Petzke for teaching us for the last 2 years, without you Ceres would not be as great as it is today.

Thank you all for listening to my speech, have a great rest of your day.

Baxter:

Hi, I’m Baxter, and I’m here to talk about my journey at Ceres.

I’ve had a fantastic three years since leaving my old school.

I joined Ceres at the end of Grade 2, and I was first welcomed by Isaac and Sam. They made me feel at home and played with me until I found my feet. That kindness is what brought me here today.

This year has been so much fun. One of my favorite highlights was playing in all the SSAs.

It was great to compete with other schools, play against different teams, and share laughs with my teammates.

As the Wellbeing Captain, I’ve really valued my role. What inspired me was watching previous Year 6 students lead their captaincy roles.

In Year 6, I’ve learned so much, even just from the Wellbeing Day lessons we had each term. That experience helped me succeed in my role this year.

I’d really like to praise the efforts of our teachers, especially Miss Petzke.

She has done so much for the whole class this year, and I feel really lucky to have had her for two years, in both Year 5 and Year 6. Thank you so much, Miss Petzke, for making this year so amazing.

I also want to thank all my friends and family for supporting me through primary school.

I wish my fellow classmates the best of luck as we move on to Year 7.

Emmy:

Good evening everyone, I'm Emmy and I have been lucky enough to be school captain for my last year at ceres. I'm standing here tonight, feeling a mix of pride, excitement, and a little bit of disbelief. I've looked forward to this day for so long, and now that it's here, I want to take a moment to reflect on this journey.

Some of my best memories have been at Ceres. These include all the camps, especially Canberra along with all 1960 lunchtimes that were filled with laughter and spent with some of my best friends.

Another great memory is the taste of the world market, sampling cuisines from all around the world made by the students. I made cornbread pancakes from the Bahamas and it was such a fun afternoon trying all the different foods.

When I was in grade 2 and 3 I loved helping out in the office answering phone calls and helping Claire with some jobs.

The friendships I've made here are going to be one of the things I'll cherish the most. We've shared so many important moments, and these people have been a significant part of my growth. I'm grateful for every laugh, every heart-to-heart talk, and even the occasional disagreements.

Reflecting on who I was when I started primary school and who I am now, I see a huge transformation. I've become more confident, more open-minded, and more determined. And I've discovered interests and passions that I want to explore further.

As I step into the future, I remind myself to stay true to who I am and even though the next chapter of high school ahead might be daunting, I'm excited for what's to come. I'm ready to embrace new experiences, meet new people, and continue growing.

Next year I will be going to Matthew Flinders and I'm mostly looking forward to making some really great friends and memories.

I’d now like to thank a few people. Firstly my parents for helping me especially through covid and just as importantly all the teachers that have taught me through the years. Thank you to you all.

To all the other grade sixes, I wish you all the best of luck for your next chapter of life at high school.

Thank you all for listening and have a wonderful night.

Isaac:

Good evening, everyone. I'm Isaac, and I've been at Ceres since Foundation.

It’s been a great experience, and I’ve made so many memories along the way.

One of my favourite memories was going on Canberra camp. It was so fun getting to visit places like the AIS, Parliament House, and Flip Out, among many others. My two favourite memories were also from the SSA events—they were a lot of fun.

This year, I was honoured to be Sports Captain, and I’ve had a lot of help from Sam and Mr. M, which made it even better.

Next year, I’ll be going to Western Heights, and I’m really looking forward to the basketball program and going to school with my friends.

I’ll never forget my first memories of school, especially being in the hedge with Sam and Hayden.

Finally, I’d like to thank Miss Petzke for being my last teacher at Ceres.

I guess that’s me out. Thank you!
