Mr Brett Gillett - Pastoral Leader - Gilroy

Dear Gilroy Parents and Caregivers,

We are almost at the end of the School Year and your boys will be keen to spend less time with us as teachers and more time with you as parents.

Over the next week or so they have much work to complete in exams or assessments. Please ensure they keep up the high standards and work till the end.

We are excited to offer the Gilroy Christmas Hams and Prawns again this year and would appreciate your support to raise valuable funds for the Mater Foundation and Cancer research. Please let all your friends and family know we have delicious King Prawns and Smoked Hams available with a late pick up guaranteeing you quality Christmas treats without the lineups.

This term the boys have been busy already with The Great Spelling Bee with a 4th placed finish, The Ephrem Rockclimb with our lonesome climbing a creditable 3rd place and finally the Gilroy ASH DASH. This premium House Cup event was extremely well contested with another 4th place. It’s a close House Cup and we are sitting 7th at the end of the 2024 Year.

I will take a minute and pause to thank Mr Peter Serone as Head of Students who is leaving us after 6 Years and Heads of House Mr Tony Byrne (1994) and Mr David Meehan (1993) who together have given Marist College Ashgrove over 80 Years of contribution. Thank you to all three of these Pastoral Leaders and enjoy your retirement. You will be missed.

Last week we farewelled our Year 12s at Graduation. It was a wonderful celebration for the boys and staff and our Gilroy boys were exceptional this year. Good luck in your future endeavours gentlemen.

The Year 9s will move into the top lockers to complete their Rite of Passage to the Senior School this week. What a privilege for them. They are very much looking forward to the move.

Please enjoy the remaining weeks and ensure your son finishes off 2024 to the best of his abilities.

Stay kind. Stay well.
