Foundation / Year 1

Text Based Unit – Bubbles in the Park

Over the last couple of weeks, we have started to look at Bubbles in the Park. This is a procedure text where two children learn how to blow bubbles at the park. The Foundation and Grade 1 students were provided with an image of Sam blowing bubbles. The students had to label different elements in the image.

Religion – We Celebrate Christmas

This term our unit is all about preparing for Christmas. We have been exploring how we prepare for different things and how Mary & Joseph prepared for Jesus to be born. We are currently in rehearsals for our Nativity Play which we hope to perform for an audience towards the end of the term. More information will come to those interested in coming along to watch the performance.

Year 2

Maths

During Maths the last few weeks, we have been working on developing our multiplication skills. We have enjoyed using concrete materials to support our learning, to represent problems as equal groups, an array, repeated addition and with a number sentence. We have also been working on consolidating our times tables individually.

Religion

This term our unit is ‘Advent - Ready for Jesus’, we have discussed and made connections to life experiences we have had to prepare for. We have been learning about the importance of preparing for Jesus, leading up to Advent and during Advent; preparing our prayer space and unpacking stories about Jesus. We have also participated in godly play together.

Year 3/4

3/4 Summer Sports

What an incredible day we had at the 3/4 Summer Sports event in Tongala! The sunny weather set the perfect scene—sun’s out, fun's out! We participated in a range of activities alongside students from other schools, including rapid fire, hula hoop showdown, hunter, continuous cricket, T-ball, and target games. The highlight, however, was the students' outstanding sportsmanship and the smiles on their faces. We couldn’t be prouder of our students for representing St. Joseph’s Primary School so well. We’re truly fortunate to have such respectful and well-behaved students!

Maths

The students have been busy measuring, ordering and comparing objects within the school using familiar metric units of length. We explored many random objects around the school and then broadening our search to outside and unsual items.  We had to rpble solve some different shapes to determine the area.

Art Show preparation

Wow, what a bust few weeks we have had creating our amazing pieces for the Art Show new week.  We decided to split into two groups to create our Text Based Unit piece and Interpretation from our scripture.  Mrs Bennet came to the rescue last Wednesday with her artistic flare to help us reach the finish line.

Year 5/6

Writing

We’re continuing our exploration of report writing, and recently we’ve been diving into fascinating facts about penguins. Now, we’re embarking on a new adventure—writing reports about dragons! The exciting part about choosing mythical creatures is that everyone starts on equal footing, with no prior knowledge to give anyone an edge. It’s a great way to spark creativity and curiosity as we research and write!

Inquiry

Our students are hard at work crafting their unique creations, which will be sold to raise money for a great cause. Right now, Inquiry is definitely the highlight of our week, sparking creativity and collaboration as everyone works toward making a difference.

Maths

We’ve been busy with a variety of assessments lately, while also diving into the world of triangular and square numbers. Up next, we’ll be revisiting our space unit, where we’ll explore coordinates and continue our exciting journey through the stars!
