Community Matters

Sally Goss

Assistant Principal

The 2024 Twilight market was a fabulous affair, with so many of our community members joining the fun.  Notwithstanding the heat,  many families still turned out to support the SRC, mustering that famous Brunswick Spirit to make the event as successful as possible.

Much planning was invested by the SRC, who not only ran their own stalls but also assisted all of our market stall vendors on and off the site.  Our vendors were most appreciative of the SRC's work and seriously impressed with the commitment that the SRC exhibited to the event.  There was seemingly no end to the "Thank you!" comments on the night - and this is one of the main reasons that vendors enjoy our market. It truly is a community affair, driven by the goal of just getting together and having a great time.

Over 35 market stalls were joined by 9 food vendors on the day,  along with stalls manned by the Parents Association and the SRC students themselves.  While the extremely warm weather may have kept some away,  it did not wilt the mood of the crowd! We were well entertained by our very special guests Coro dei Bambini  (Brunswick North Primary School choir) who sang for us and performed a tarantella!  It was fabulous to have the choir join us - and we hope they will again! After this, the array of BSC bands kept the music coming and we enjoyed a chines cultural display, while visitors grabbed a meal and refreshments, and settled in to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere.

There is nothing like getting together and celebrating our community.  Thank you to the many who attended and helped to make it such a good night.

Special thanks to our market stall and food vendors - we could not do it without you - and a big shout out to Nathan Fistric (Director of Music) and the Instrumental Music teachers, Ray Stivala and Andray Devcic (Facilities), Anastasia Papadopoulos, Lindel Bell, the Parents' Association and supporting volunteers, Claudia Johnson, Tasoula Michael , Karen Harris and Anne Siciliano.

Year 9

First, I really need to thank my teachers Ms Lu and Ms Qu that gave me the chance to have a dragon dance show at the Twilight Market.

I am very happy for what I have done, it was really cool.

I am very proud for showing school the Chinese culture, and as a Chinese student, I will be so happy if this can happen again next year!
