Year 2
Royal Botanic Gardens Excursion
Year 2 students participated in an excursion and learning walk around the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne on Monday 18 November.
On Monday 18th November our class was so excited because we were going to The Botanical Gardens.
There were two classes in each bus and the trip took about half an hour. When we arrived, we saw a statue as strong as an African elephant! Everyone put their bags near a huge brick house, ate brain food and played with their friends.
We went for a long walk to see all the plants, trees and flowers in the gardens. The paths were twisty and long. Many times we stopped along the way to listen to the sounds of the birds chirping and there were so many different birdsongs! Amazing.
Some parts of the gardens were shady and cool. We saw a huge Moreton Bay Fig Tree which had huge roots poking out above the ground. The lake sparkled like diamonds and the lily pads were floating on top.
Claire was our teacher. She was as smart as a wise old owl. She talked to us about seed pods. We looked at many different kinds of pods and organized them into groups.
Our excursion was the best day ever!
