Learning and Teaching Update

'We aim to provide a school environment where ‘Every person can flourish and be known’ This means that our teaching program identifies the unique needs of each individual student, and delivers a learning program designed to grow them into the best person that they can be'.

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to Term 4. I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable holiday and the students are back refreshed for a busy, exciting and fun term.

This term, teachers will be busy teaching and assessing students in all areas of the curriculum in preparation for the end of year reports. We continue to focus on having high expectations for all our students in the classroom and on the playground this term. Please continue to remind your child of this when watching the High Expectations videos that get posted on COMPASS AND Class Dojo.

This term our teachers will continue their learning on Explicit Instruction in the classroom with particular focus on Adaptive and Responsive Teaching. Adaptive and responsive teaching are flexible, student-centered approaches that involve adjusting teaching in real-time based on student needs and ongoing assessment. Adaptive teaching is a broader concept that includes both pre-lesson planning and in-lesson adjustments, while responsive teaching specifically refers to the real-time, in-lesson adaptations made based on student responses. Both methods focus on maintaining high expectations for all students, providing scaffolding, and challenging learners appropriately.

I hope the spring weather gets better for all of us.

Kind regards

Glennis Kerr
