Continuous Improvement in Child Safe Practices at Moama Anglican Grammar
At our school, the safety and wellbeing of every student is our highest priority. In alignment with the NSW Child Safe Standards, we are deeply committed to Standard 9: Implementation of the Child Safe Standards is continuously reviewed and improved. Through ongoing reflection, staff training and community engagement, we strive to strengthen our child safe environment and uphold a culture where children feel respected, valued and protected. Our commitment to continuous improvement ensures that child safety is not a one-time initiative, but a sustained and evolving priority.
Standard 9: Implementation of the Child Safe Standards is continuously reviewed and improved
Some of the ways we meet this standard are:
- Child Safe policies and practices are regularly reviewed.
- Risk assessments are written and implemented to prioritise negating child safety risks in all school events and activities.
- Leaders understand the value of continuous monitoring, open conversations and exploring new ways to keep children safe.
- Policies and procedures include a schedule for future reviews and updates.
- Staff are regularly made aware of the Child Safe Standards and understand the importance of their implementation by teachers, staff and leaders alike.
- Leaders and staff review critical incidents to identify causes and make improvements to mitigate risks to the safety of children moving forward.
Students are supported to provide feedback, and this information is acted upon.

The NSW Child Safe Standards were developed to ensure schools not only meet their legal obligations but also actively place the safety and wellbeing of every student at the centre of all they do. At Moama Anglican Grammar, we view this responsibility as a core part of who we are, and we remain deeply committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for every student. If you have any questions regarding child safety at our school, please reach out to myself or a member of our Executive Team.

Road Safety information for Term 4
P Plate rules for mobile use
Many older students may drive to and from school. Learner, P1 and P2 drivers must not use a mobile phone while driving, even when they are stationary, for example, stopped at lights or stuck in traffic. This includes:
- texting
- phone calls
- music
- emailing
- social media
- using the internet
- maps and navigation
- photography
This applies to mobile phones that are handheld, in a phone holder or hands-free, for example, via Bluetooth.
All drivers, including learner, P1 and P2 drivers, can use a mobile phone for any function when parked out of the line of traffic. The ignition does not need to be off.
Motorists can receive a fine and demerit points for using a mobile phone illegally. Double demerit points also apply. Students who have either a learner or P1 licence will go over the demerit point limit and lose their licence.
Please see the link for more information – mobile phones.
Buying a used car
Some students, when gaining their license may look to purchase a used car for transportation.
It is recommended before buying a used vehicle, students should think about:
- what best suits your needs, lifestyle and budget
- whether you want to buy a used vehicle through a private sale, online, auction or dealership. Each option has pros and cons
- if you are buying an electric vehicle, consider how and where you will charge the vehicle
- the total costs involved in buying a used vehicle. This includes registration, insurance, maintenance or repairs and interest on any loan.
To help support those students who may be looking to purchase a used car, feel free to direct them to our website – Buying a used car.
Child car seats
Some parents may not have the correct child car seat fitted when dropping off their children at school.
Children aged under 7 years must use an approved suitable child restraint when travelling in a vehicle. A child restraint is a forward‑facing or rear-facing child car seat (also referred to as a baby car seat or baby capsule), or a booster seat.
Please note the basic 5-step test below to determine whether a child is ready to transition from a car seat to a seatbelt.
For teachers wanting to know more information, please visit our website – Child Car Seats.
