Primary School

The 2026 Kindergarten Transition Program is well underway. Early Stage 1 Coordinator and Kindergarten teacher, Mrs Adele Ridge, visited many of the children who are enrolled to start in our 2026 Kindergarten classes. Visiting students in their preschool setting has many benefits. Firstly, it provides an opportunity to observe the students in a classroom or playground setting where they are comfortable and feel safe. Secondly, being able to tap into the knowledge that the preschool educators have about their students is incredibly valuable. The opportunity to discuss classroom routines that work and unpack individual strategies for students supports a smooth transition into school. Finally, being able to recognise an adult from their new school will assist students when they attend Moama Anglican Grammar for their first transition morning.
Our transition program caters for both students and parents. From information sessions to curriculum workshops, we look forward to welcoming all our new families at the various upcoming events.
Year 6 Camp to Canberra
In Week 2, our Year 6 students undertook an education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy. These experiences included visits to the Museum of Australian Democracy, National Portrait Gallery, National Film and Sound Archives, Australian War Memorial, and Parliament House. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government contributed funding of $45 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
“In Week Two, we went to Canberra for Year 6 camp. We left early and visited the National Gallery of Australia, where we saw beautiful artworks, including a large sculpture over the top of a man-made pond. We toured the city, explored all the different embassies, and settled into our cabins. On the second day, we learned about democracy at Old Parliament House, and we visited the Australian Institute of Sport, where we watched professional training being done. We even met the Governor-General, Ms Sam Mostyn at Government House, who shared what her job required. But our trip was not over yet; we had an exciting visit to Questacon, where many kids enjoyed sliding down a giant slide. Our stay ended with a trip to Parliament House, learning all about the House of Representatives and the Chamber of Senators. Overall, Year 6 camp was a fun and memorable experience!”

Kindergarten Excursion
Last Friday, our Kindergarten students enjoyed a fun-filled excursion to Gunbower Estate, where they took their learning outside the classroom and made meaningful connections to their Term 4 Science unit on ‘Living Things’. The day was full of hands-on experiences that sparked curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
Students explored the features and habitats of water bugs using trays, magnifying glasses, water samples, and ID cards, guided by Twisted Science. They also worked together to make damper over the fire, interacted with animals in the petting zoo provided by Billabong Ranch, and created a collaborative artwork with Mrs Pedrana on the banks of Gunbower Creek. Keep an eye out around the school grounds for this special piece to pop up!
Students listened to an Indigenous Dreamtime story and created a related craft activity, linking beautifully to their literacy learning. A guided historical tour of the homestead helped students connect with the past and gain a deeper appreciation for our school’s second campus.
The bus ride itself was a standout moment for some students! By the end of the day, there were plenty of tired but happy students (and adults). A huge thank you to our registered volunteers, dedicated staff members, and Property Manager Dean. Your support ensured the day ran smoothly and was a memorable success.
Year 4 Camp to Kyneton
A bus full of excited (and slightly nervous) Year 4 students set off on Monday morning for their much-anticipated camp at PGL Campaspe Downs. The journey was quiet but ended with cheerful sing-alongs as the students approached their destination, setting the tone for a fun-filled few days. Despite a damp arrival, spirits remained high, and the students jumped straight into their first activities. Aeroball was a brand-new experience for all, and everyone got quite competitive! Students also bravely tackled the flying fox, soaring across the water in harnesses with impressive courage shown by all, including the staff. That evening, Harrison, the enthusiastic camp leader, hosted a lively trivia night that had everyone laughing and participating with great energy.
Day two was all about resilience and perseverance. With harnesses on once again, students took part in abseiling, the Possum Glider, and the Centipede Climb. The students also discovered some impressive archery skills in the Year 4 cohort. The weather was perfect, and many reached new heights, both literally and figuratively. By evening, some very tired campers gathered in the basketball court for the ‘Splash’ challenge, where teams designed protective casings to keep water balloons intact when dropped from a height. Three successful teams earned the honour of throwing their balloons at Harrison, which was a highlight for many.
Rain greeted students and staff on the final morning, making pack-up a soggy affair. Nevertheless, the camp ended with some fantastic team-building games, bushcraft, and sensory activities. Throughout the stay, the food was absolutely delicious, from pasta and salad to tacos, burgers, and wraps, and students became experts at cleaning up after each meal. All students are to be commended on their behaviour, participation, and willingness to step out of their comfort zones. A big thanks to Jo Morgan, Cindy Pedrana, and Michael Hearn for supporting the Year 4 teachers and students, making all the fun possible.
Student Achievement - Throwing it out there!
Moama Anglican Grammar is immensely proud of Isabelle Barnett (Year 6), who competed this week in the NSW Primary Track and Field Championships. Issy gained selection for this high-level competition by medalling at the CIS State Primary Championships in Sydney in early September.
Issy competed in the shot put on Wednesday (finishing 19th) and the discus on Thursday (finishing 20th) in the multiclass category (athletes with a disability). While she was nervous, Issy was very brave and went out to both her competitions independently and threw without any fouls.
Congratulations, Issy, on your performances, your bravery, and your results. We are all proud of you at Moama Anglican Grammar.
Year 5 Leadership Applications
Currently, the Year 6 leadership applications are open to students in Year 5. These positions offer the experience for individuals to lead many activities, gain experience in leading initiatives and driving change within our Primary School.
As part of this process, students are submitting nominations for the following positions:

More information about the Leadership Application process has been shared with our Year 5 families.
Term 4 Co-Curricular Opportunities
Stage 1 Assembly
Students in Year 1A were in charge of presenting the Stage 1 Amazing Assembly on Wednesday 22 October. The students shared what they have been learning in writing, focusing on alliteration and how it makes sentences sound more interesting and fun. The students confidently read examples of their own creative work, showcasing their growing writing skills. Stage 1 Super Stars were also recognised and awarded by special guest Mr Johnson. To finish the assembly, everyone enjoyed hearing about Miss Kew’s recent trip to Ireland, which was a wonderful way to end the morning.

Message from the Office
During pick up times, we ask that parents use the designated car parks around the school to access the school in a safe manner. We continue to receive reports about the number of parents who park their car across the road on Kirchhofer Street and walk between buses, offering limited road visibility when crossing the road to return to their car. We thank you for your support.
