Hello, from Carolyn.

Respect, responsibility and kindness

Hello everyone,

Well done to our students and staff for managing such a busy week with swimming and associated timetable changes, everyone is looking tired today! A massive thank you to Laura Hicks, our PE teacher, for excellent organisation of the week, and well done to all of you for remembering to send your children to school with their swimming gear every day this week.

Being Sunsmart at school.

Each of our learning spaces has sunscreen and students are regularly reminded to apply sunscreen before heading outside. If your child has a preferred sunscreen, you are welcome to send it to school with their name on it for them to use.

Attendance.

It is important the school is notified of any student absences at the earliest possible convenience via Sentral.

If you receive an email or an alert at the top of your News Feed regarding an ‘unexplained absence’, it means that your child has been marked ‘Not Present’ but a reason for the absence has not been provided in Sentral. It is a Department of Education requirement that we have a reason for EVERY day (or part day), a student is absent.

We ask parents to routinely check Sentral each week for any 'Unexplained Absences' and follow the steps to provide an explanation for a student's absence.

Reminder- The Smile Squad free school dental program is coming to our school.

The Smile Squad team from Bendigo Health are coming to our school soon.

Smile Squad is the Victorian Government free school dental program.

This means ALL students can get a free dental check-up, preventive services, and treatment at school.

How to access free dental care

Smile Squad need your consent before they can provide services. Consent is usually provided by a parent or guardian.

Sign up to Smile Squad at: https://bit.ly/smilesquadvic

Paper copies of the consent form are available from the office, please call in to collect one or get in touch with the office and we will send one home with your child.

The electronic consent form can be translated into more than 100 languages, and the paper form is currently available in 13 languages.

Do I need to attend my child’s appointment?

No, you do not need to attend your child’s appointment. You can attend if you would like to, and you can take your child to the community dental clinic if you prefer.

A reminder that we have a 'Class placement' policy and a parent input form for you to complete if you would like us to consider your child's particular social, emotional and/or learning needs. Completing the form does not guarantee your child will be placed in a particular class or with a particular teacher. If you would like a copy of the policy and form, let me know. Unfortunately our website is down so you won't be able to find it there.

Add this date to your diary! Term 4 Student free day Friday 28 November.

warm regards,

Carolyn.
