Japanese Program – Term 4 Update

This term in Japanese, students across the school are engaging in exciting and meaningful learning experiences.

Every class also begins with a fun Japanese roll call. Students practise asking and answering questions such as “Where do you live?”“Doko ni sundeimasu ka?” and replying “I live in…”“... ni sundeimasu.” It’s a great way to build confidence speaking Japanese every week.

Prep students are enjoying the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar (Harapeko Aomushi). They are learning to say fruits and days of the week in Japanese while retelling parts of the story through songs and craft activities.

Year 1/2 students are exploring the topic Family (Kazoku). They are learning to talk about their family members in Japanese and create mini family books to share with their classmates.

Year 3/4 students are learning about Japanese geography. They are discovering famous cities and landmarks, such as Tokyo, Kyoto, and Mt Fuji, while comparing them with places in Australia.

Year 5/6 students are continuing their project Plan Your Visit to Japan. They are researching destinations, planning itineraries, and learning useful travel phrases to help them navigate Japan like real travellers.

It’s wonderful to see students learning more about Japan’s language and culture each week.
