Mental Health
& Wellbeing update
You may have noticed some large posters up on display in our classroom and open learning areas continuing to talk about the Children's Wellbeing Continuum, what it is and how we're using it at BPS.

To recap, the Children’s Wellbeing Continuum is an evidence-based tool developed to support conversations around children’s wellbeing (it's really a tool for anyone, adults included!). The tool provides a snapshot of a child’s social and emotional wellbeing at any given point in time.
The Continuum has four anchor points that range from “Good” through to “Coping”, “Struggling” and “Overwhelmed”. The posters in classrooms give a good overview of what these four anchor points might look, feel and sound like for an individual. These posters can be seen in the photos below too.
The Continuum can support health literacy by enabling parents, teachers and service providers to more easily discuss and reflect on wellbeing as well as early identification and action when children are struggling with their emotions.
If you haven't seen the posters, please feel free to pop into your child's classroom on your next pick up or drop off to have a look. I am also very happy to have a chat about the Continuum and how it could also be used in a home/family setting if you're interested.
Thanks,
Bron Coffey
