Term 4 Unlocked in 5/6O

Information Reports
5/6O has been learning how to write information reports about different world habitats. Prior to writing, we thoroughly explored the structure and language features of this text type. We then focused on researching, note-taking and organising our ideas using Single Paragraph Outlines (SPO’s). We published our reports with images, captions and glossaries to help explain key terms. Our final pieces are a reflection of our hard work and growing skills as writers!
Market Manoeuvres Incursion
In Week 1 of Term 4, 5/6O took part in an exciting incursion called Market Manoeuvres. A whole class economy was established where we formed business teams to buy, produce and sell goods. We learnt first hand how supply, demand and government decisions can affect outcomes. It was a fantastic way to dive into the world of economics!
Dance Incursion
Week 1 of Term 4 also included a whole school dance incursion. Jari from Dance Curriculum visited our school and taught each year level a unique dance routine. The day ended with a whole school performance where each level had the opportunity to showcase what they had learned. As a special treat, we even got to see Jari perform one of his own amazing dance routines!
Virtual Cyber Session
This term, all Year 5/6 students took part in a Virtual Cyber Safety Session delivered by the Cyber Safety Project. The incursion addressed the following questions:
What steps can I take if I am being harassed or bullied online?
What are the actions of an online upstander?
How does having a private account improve my online safety?
Why is it important to minimise personal information online?
Student Shout Outs - You’ve Got Mail!
In 5/6O, we have started to SHOUT OUT positive behaviour! We have been spending time recognising kind words, thoughtful actions and the great qualities we see in our classmates! At the end of the term, our envelopes will be filled with Student Shout Out slips! We are looking forward to reading them!
