Welcome back

Welcome back to Term 4 at St Aloysius College Cronulla! As we enter the final chapter of the school year, we do so with renewed energy, a spirit of gratitude, and a shared commitment to finishing strong. Whether you're returning from a restful break or a busy holiday period, we look forward to reconnecting, celebrating our achievements, and continuing to grow together as a vibrant learning community.

Celebrating Student Success

While we are acutely aware of what is happening within our school and our SCS system regarding our student’s successes, we don’t always know what is happening in the wider community - but we want to! To help facilitate our College sharing the wider success stories of our students, staff and community we are adding a google form link to our Compass Page. This link will be found under the STAR icon and will be titled - Sharing Success Form. We invite parents, carers and students to complete the form when a student achieves in a field outside of the College. Whether this be sport, drama, film, charity, or any field, we want to share that success!

Uniform and Grooming

Thank you to the many families who have supported a smooth start to Term 4 by ensuring students returned in full school uniform and with appropriate grooming. Your partnership reinforces the high standards we uphold at St Aloysius College and sets a positive tone for the term ahead.

We at the College have spent a long time trying to achieve a fair balance between comfort, consideration of our climate and the expectations of a Catholic high school. We feel we have that balance right, as was recently conveyed to members of the leadership team by our new Student Leaders for the College.

However, this does not mean that we are lax or tolerant of clear breaches of our uniform policy. Recently Mr Mahoney spoke to the whole school on this matter and made sure every student heard the same message from the Principal. Every student and family signed our enrolment documents which included a commitment to uphold our uniform and grooming standards and expectations. Failure to do so will result in consequences such as compass entries, detentions and in some cases students may be sent home to correct a uniform or grooming issue.

Of particular concern this term:

Male students:

  • Belts are a required part of the uniform
  • Shoes to be polished and cared for
  • Students to be cleanly shaven at all times
  • Haircuts need to be neat and tidy at all times

Female students:

  • Skirt needs to be to the knee (touching the knee)
  • Two earrings are allowed in the lower ear lobe
  • Natural or clear nail polish only - no acrylic/false nails
  • Hair needs to be tied back

Year 12 Jerseys

This term Year 12 students were presented with their 2026 Year 12 Jersey and we congratulate the students on their design as it looks terrific. Recently the new Year 12 leaders petitioned the leadership team to allow the students to wear the Jersey more. From this week Year 12 will be allowed to wear the Jersey on Thursdays and Fridays. Students will also be allowed to wear during scheduled exam blocks. Students are not to wear the Jersey on any other days.

Punctuality

Punctuality is an important part of respecting oneself and respecting our College. Students are expected to be on the school premises before the morning bell rings at 8:35am. Arriving on time is a physical example of the respect students have for themselves and our College.

Recently some students have been arriving at the College without a valid reason, then later families are explaining this lateness as a “medical appointment”. This is neither truthful, acceptable or helpful and does not help teach our students the importance of punctuality and the respect it shows to others.

If students are arriving late to school due to a medical or dental appointment students will need to bring a note from the practice - this is a common action from most medical offices when appointments conflict with school times.

Canteen and Mobile Phones

Students have been informed since the start of the year they will need cash or a card to purchase food/drinks from the canteen. Alternatively parents can use the Flexi-schools system. No mobile phones are to be the canteen.

Parent Talk - Mental Health (from Term 3)

Dr Jaimie Northam was scheduled to speak to our community last term but was unable to attend at the last minute. We have decided to re-schedule this talk to Term 1 2026, as with the festive season approaching it is difficult to find the time for parents and families to come to school in the evening. Stay tuned for a confirmed date mid-term 1 2026.

Year 7 Vaccinations

As part of the NSW School Vaccination Program, Year 7 students at St Aloysius College Cronulla will be offered free vaccines for diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (dTpa) and human papillomavirus (HPV) through a school-based clinic. This initiative, delivered in partnership with NSW Health, helps protect young people against serious illnesses and supports long-term community health. Vaccinations are administered by NSW registered nurses on site at the College and are due to take place on Wednesday, 12 November (week 5).

If parents have not already done so parents can use this link to register - select the school vaccination program login.
