Principal's Report

Free Cyber Safety Night

I strongly encourage all parents and carers to attend this important session, given the significant increase in students encountering issues online. Unfortunately, primary-aged children often lack the maturity and awareness needed to navigate the many risks present in the digital world, especially without close supervision and guidance from adults.

Attending this session will help you stay informed and better equipped to support your child’s safety and wellbeing online, both now and into the future.

Even for our youngest students, the online world can present serious dangers. Children aged 5–13 are increasingly being exposed to:

  • Cyberbullying and online harassment
  • Inappropriate or pornographic content
  • Requests for or sharing of nude images
  • Online grooming and contact from strangers
  • Excessive screen time and gaming addiction
  • Privacy breaches and oversharing personal information
  • Social media pressure and unrealistic expectations

These issues can have a significant and lasting impact on a child’s wellbeing. Did you know that over 90% of all cyber issues a school is obligated to deal with will happen at home or outside of school?

Do you feel confident supporting your child to stay safe online?

Would you like clear, practical advice from one of Australia’s leading expert in cyber safety?

Join us for a free parent information session with Susan McLean, Australia’s foremost authority on online safety and digital behaviour. Susan will speak openly and honestly about the risks young people face online and provide strategies parents can use straight away.

📅 Monday 1st December @ 6:30pm

Brett and I heard Susan speak at the APF Conference recently. She’s a straight shooter who delivers a clear and powerful message that every parent needs to hear.

Let’s work together to protect our children, keep them informed, and help them make safe choices in an online world that’s not always safe for kids.

Assembly Postponed

Due to the Colour Run taking place tomorrow afternoon, our school assembly will be held on Monday instead.

My apologies for any inconvenience this change may cause.

School Crossing Reminder

We’ve received a number of reports that some students are not dismounting from their bikes before using the school crossing. We ask all families to please remind children to hop off their bikes and walk them across the road. Taking that short pause allows them to stop, look, and cross safely with the support of our crossing supervisor, Sam.

Riding through the crossing gives very little time for Sam and drivers to react, creating unnecessary risk for everyone. Please remind your children to stay alert, pay attention to their surroundings, and always use the crossings with care.

Be Awesome Day 2025

Passports will be given out to the students on the day. Adult passes and extra passes for siblings will be available to purchase from the office.

World Teachers' Day

Tomorrow Friday October 31st is World Teachers' Day. Thanks to all of our teachers for making a huge difference every day to our little people and thank you for your dedication, passion, and tireless efforts to support and empower our students.

Grandparents Day 2025

A highlight on our calendar each year is Grandparents Day. This year we had our usual strong attendance with well over 200 visitors. Students clearly loved showing off their classroom and doing activities with their special visitor. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend.

2026 Placement Requests

Throughout November we will work on our class structures and student combinations for next year.

In the past we have worked to ensure friendship groups remain together in some capacity, however, it is equally important to recognise the need to establish productive environments that support learning, as well as maintaining or building new friendship groups. If there are any concerns about friendship placements for students in 2025, please let me know via email Francis.Trezise@education.vic.gov.au by Friday, 8th November.  No late requests will be considered.  Please note that it is not possible for parents to request specific teachers, as it would be impossible to accommodate all requests. Our process is to develop matched classroom groups, based on social and educational needs, and then we match teachers to each class. In this way, all classes are developed equally.

Final Curriculum Day for 2025

Our final curriculum day for 2025 will be held on Friday, 14th November. Staff will be using this day for assessment and reporting.
