Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another busy and productive fortnight in the Grade 5/6 area. It sStudents have taken part in two Health and Puberty sessions delivered by the Nurses from Bendigo Health. These sessions provided valuable opportunities for students to learn about physical and emotional changes, personal hygiene, and the importance of making healthy, respectful choices. The students approached these discussions with maturity and curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and engaging positively throughout. Big thanks to Bendigo Health for running these sessions for our kids!
Last week we were delighted to welcome families in for our Grandparents Day. The students took great pride in showing their work and including their visitors in our classroom activities. We'd like to say a BIG thank-you to all those who were able to make trip in- we hope you had an enjoyable day!
This week we have been busy preparing for our Awesome Day celebrations, which will take place tomorrow. The excitement has certainly been building as we get ready to celebrate together. Thank-you to all those parents who have donated or supported our kids to get ready for the day.
In the classroom, we have continued reading and discussing Once by Morris Gleitzman. The novel has sparked lots of rich conversations about history, resilience and empathy. In Writing, our focus has been on refining sentence structure through the correct and purposeful use of commas. Students have been revising their drafts to improve clarity and flow in their writing. In Mathematics, we have continued exploring algebra and shape, with students learning a range of concepts, from recognising patterns, forming and solving equations, and describing the properties and nets 3D shapes.
Warm regards,
5/6 Team
