Congratulations to 1/2 Edwards for winning our first Maths Challenge of Term 4!

In Reading and Writing, we read Jeremy by Chris Faille and used it to identify key features of a recount — including who, what, when, where, and time-order words. Students practised recognising and using past tense verbs, powerful verbs, and descriptive adjectives to make their writing more engaging. They then applied this knowledge by annotating and writing their own short recounts.
This fortnight, our 3/4 students have also been exploring letter writing.
For Grade 3, students wrote letters to their future 2026 classroom teacher or their past 2025 teacher, while Grade 4 students wrote to their future Prep Buddy.
We began with a short BTN clip on letter writing and discussed:
Students then explored their audience, considering what their reader would like to know about them, before drafting letters using a simple template to guide their writing.

MATHEMATICS
This fortnight in Applied Maths, students explored measurement using a real brick and LEGO models. They measured length, width, and height in centimetres or millimetres, recorded mass in grams or kilograms, and built scaled LEGO versions, comparing them to the real brick.
This week, in our fluid groups, students have been exploring the concept of time across a range of skills. This includes telling time on both analogue and digital clocks, as well as reading and interpreting timetables for real-life contexts such as bus or flight schedules. Students are also practising calculating elapsed time, developing strategies to work out how long events last or the time between two events. These activities build both fluency with units of time and the ability to apply time concepts in practical situations.

TOPIC:
This fortnight, students began the Our Island Home project, creating their own island nations using geographic knowledge.
Students worked in pairs to plan and draft maps, considering features such as oceans, towns, natural vegetation, built landmarks, and keys with symbols. They also completed a Leadership page, nominating which section of the project they would lead.
The project focused on collaboration, planning, and applying mapping skills, with clear expectations guided by a rubric. Students drafted their maps on A3 paper before creating a polished version for their final presentation.

BE AWESOME DAY 2025
Tomorrow is our much-anticipated ‘Be Awesome Day’, and we can’t wait to celebrate with our amazing school community!
This event is always a highlight of the year, bursting with fun, laughter, and exciting student-led activities that showcase creativity, teamwork, and school spirit.
A huge thank you to everyone for your generous donations, enthusiasm, and offers of help to ensure the day runs smoothly. Your support truly makes this event possible, and we’re so grateful for the community spirit that makes our school such a special place!

GRANDPARENTS DAY!
What a wonderful day we had celebrating Grandparents and Special Friends Day! It was heart-warming to welcome so many special visitors into our classrooms and around our school. Students loved showing their guests where they learn, play, and create each day, and enjoyed spending time completing activities together.
A huge thank you to Ms Riordan for her hard work in organising this special event, it was a beautiful celebration of connection, community, and gratitude.
