NAPLAN 2026 (Years 3 & 5)

NAPLAN (National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy) for 2026 will take place in Term 1 between Wednesday 11 March and Monday 23 March. At this stage, most tests will be completed on:

Wednesday 11th March - Writing

Thursday 12th March (x2) - Reading and Conventions of Language

Friday 13th March - Numeracy

More detailed information about the schedule and preparations will be shared with families in the coming weeks. However, the most important thing right now is planning around absences.

If your child is in Year 3 or Year 5 and you have planned absences during the NAPLAN test window, please email rafael.fernandez@smcmeppingnth.catholic.edu.auas soon as possible. Any other planned absences need to be directed to the school office.

It’s important we know about planned absences for Years 3 and 5 because NAPLAN is primarily delivered on a digital platform and, as a result, our school needs to digitally organise catch-up testing within the test window for students who miss scheduled sessions.

Digital Technologies User Agreement (Student Form)

Due Friday 6th February

Each year, you and your child are required to read and sign a ‘Digital Technologies User Agreement’ before they are provided with access to our digital devices. As you read through the agreement, we encourage families to use this as an opportunity to open up discussions with your child about the different ways we can act safely when using a device, especially online.

You would have already received a blue form that needs to be returned to your homegroup teacher by Friday 6th February. Spare copies are available at the front office.

As we navigate the digital landscape, let us remain vigilant both online and offline. Should you require any further assistance, do not hesitate to seek our support.

Beginning of Year Assessments

Last week, teachers have been working with students to complete beginning of year assessments. This time was very valuable for our staff as it helped us get to know your children’s strengths, learning needs and how they approach their work. Using this information, we will tailor our teaching and learning programs so that lessons are targeted and supportive for every student.

We’re also pleased to report that students have settled well into their routines and are engaging positively with their classes. Thank you to families for your support during this important start to the year.
