Reading Challenge

The Library is excited to launch our very first Reading Challenge for the year, open to both staff and students at Wyndham College and JPII. It’s a fun, easy way to get back into reading in Term 1.

To enter, simply read a book of 200 pages or more—just make sure it’s not a textbook. Once you’ve finished, head to the Library Circulation Desk to collect a Pokéball. Write your name and the book title on it, then blue-tack it onto the glass tally board to see our reading community grow.

The winner will receive a $50 voucher to QVB Books, with the lucky reader announced in the final week of term. Happy reading!

Study Sessions

It has also been great to see our new Year 11 students settling in so well to senior school life. The Library has been a popular space for study and collaboration, and we remind students to please remember to sign in for all study sessions. This helps us keep the space organised and ensures everyone is supported during their learning time.

This week also marks the start of our Study Skills sessions for Year 11, beginning with the topic “Becoming a Senior Student.” These sessions are designed to help students build strong learning habits and confidence as they begin this important stage of their schooling. Our Deputies and Principal have been thoroughly enjoying running these sessions and are looking forward to supporting students as they develop the skills needed to become successful, independent learners.

Platinum - High Potential and Gifted Education

We welcomed our new cohort of Year 11 Platinum students to Wyndham College. These students are based in the Library for roll call every day and have direct access to study resources and spaces. Platinum students have set high expectations for themselves and have impressed us already with their organisational and leadership skills.

Students in our Platinum program have been selected because they may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport. At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths through close mentoring, encouraging connection with like minded peers and providing opportunities for these students to be extended.
