YEAR 11 NEWS

Welcome to Year 11
On behalf of the College, I warmly welcome all our new Year 11 students, parents and carers to Wyndham College. It has been a fantastic start to the year, with students settling in quickly, making new friends and getting to know the routines and expectations of senior college life. The positive energy around the campus has been wonderful to see.
A reminder to all students and families that, as part of our Workplace Health and Safety requirements, black leather shoes must be worn at all times while on College grounds. This is a non-negotiable safety requirement and applies to all students throughout the school day.
We are pleased to advise that Wyndham College hoodies are expected to be back in stock within the next week. Once these are available, other jumpers will no longer be permitted, so please ensure students are prepared for this transition.
There are many opportunities for students to get involved beyond the classroom, including a wide range of sporting teams and activities. We strongly encourage students to participate and make the most of College life. If any students are interested in starting a new club or group, they should speak with Nathan, the Year Adviser, to discuss their ideas.
The Senior Assessment Handbook will be issued this week, and it is vital that all students and parents/carers read this document carefully. It outlines key expectations, assessment requirements and responsibilities that are essential for success in the HSC.
Our Study Skills program has also kicked off well. Students are reminded that they must bring a notebook for each 50-minute session, held once a fortnight, to support their organisation and learning.
We are very much looking forward to meeting parents and carers at the upcoming Meet and Greet evening, where I will be speaking in more detail about HSC requirements and what to expect across the senior years.
Thank you for your continued support as we begin this important stage of your child’s education. We are excited to work in partnership with you throughout 2026 and beyond.
SHINE Tutoring Program Returns in Week 3
We are pleased to let families know that our SHINE Tutoring Program will recommence on Monday 16 February.
This year we are beginning with six tutors, most of whom are current university students and we are especially proud that half are Wyndham alumni. It is wonderful to see former students returning to give back to our learning community.
The SHINE program is designed to provide additional in-class support for students, particularly those who are EAL/D learners or who would benefit from extra assistance in Literacy, Numeracy or Technology. Tutors work alongside classroom teachers to strengthen understanding, build confidence and support student progress.
Tutors may work one-on-one, with small groups, or circulate through the classroom to provide clarification and encouragement where needed. All tutoring takes place during regular lessons under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
We are currently finalising the list of students who will receive targeted support through SHINE however, in the first week tutors may assist any students who would benefit from additional help.
We look forward to another successful year of SHINE supporting our students to build skills, confidence and strong foundations for their senior studies.
The SHINE program is made possible due to the ongoing support of Australian Schools Plus.
