Principal's News

Dear Parents, Carers and St John’s Community Members,

I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing, safe, and joyful Christmas and New Year, filled with special moments shared with family and friends.

As we begin a new school year at St John’s, we do so as a faith-filled community with high hopes and expectations for every child. By working closely in partnership with families, we aim to ensure each student feels welcomed, valued, supported, and encouraged to grow in all aspects of their learning and development.

I am very much looking forward to welcoming everyone back next week for assessment days and hearing all about the children’s holiday adventures. It will be wonderful to reconnect and begin the year together.

While late nights and relaxed morning routines have been a joy over the holidays, it is a great time to now gently ease back into school routines. We encourage families to begin re-establishing regular bedtimes so students are well-rested, ready for the day, and set up for a positive start to the school year. Don't forget to wash the school hat, check out the length of the school dresses so they are suitable and get the children used to their new school shoes!

Below are some important details to help ensure a smooth and happy transition back to school for both you and your children.

STUDENT ASSESSMENT DAYS:

As previously communicated, we will kick off the academic year with assessment days on Thursday, 29 January and Friday, 30 January, for students in Years 1 - 6. These Assessment days are important as they provide our dedicated teachers with the opportunity to connect with your child and gather valuable data to support their ongoing learning journey. Please ensure the students are at school for a 8:45am start and are picked up at 3:20pm.

  • Students with surnames A - L are scheduled for Thursday, January 29, from 8:45 am to 3:20 pm.
  • Students with surnames M - Z are scheduled for Friday, January 30, from 8:45 am to 3:20 pm.

Please note: Some families have been asked to come on a different day due to balancing numbers so please read the letter sent home with your child at the end of last year to confirm your testing day.

On these days, students are required to bring their headphones and be in their summer uniform, including the school hat and sunscreen. Please ensure your child brings their food and a bottle of water.

Booklist ordering has been completed by the school, as communicated in 2025. We ask that students bring

  • headphones
  • art smock
  • 2025 art folio (new students will receive these once they return to school),
  • 2 boxes of tissues, a packet of Antibacterial wipes and a packet of Chux.
