Welcome Year 7

Middle Years

Year 7 Camp

We have been delighted to welcome our new Year 7 cohort to the College over the past week and a half. Our newest students have settled in admirably after completing their three-day START Program, where we focused on building connections with other students, teachers and the wider school community. Students were introduced to our College values of Citizenship, Challenge and Respect, and have been busy implementing these in all aspects of their lives at school. Their enthusiasm and positive attitude have been fantastic to see, and teachers have been impressed with their willingness to participate and learn.

The work has only just begun for students mastering our Ready to Learn behaviours and our entry and exit routines, but it has been fantastic to see how well our Year 7 classes are learning and adapting to their new school life.

Next week, our Year 7s will embark upon one of the most exciting events during their school year: Year 7 Camp at Campaspe Downs, Kyneton. Their enthusiasm for this has been overwhelming, and we can’t wait to see them further challenge themselves, work together and to demonstrate behaviours our College can be proud of.

As we move further into the term, we encourage parents to support their children by checking in on their experiences, supporting them actively with their learning at home, helping them stay organised, and reinforcing the importance of routines. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we are here to support every student as they navigate this exciting new period of their lives.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 7s and look forward to seeing them continue to grow and thrive at Wantirna College.

Year 7 Family Night

Last night, we were delighted to host our annual Year 7 Family Night, an event that brought together families, teaching staff, and students for an evening centred on connection and the importance of a strong partnerships between school and families.

A special thank you to all the families who joined us and took the time to get to know our learning spaces and staff. A special shout out goes to our wonderful Year 10 Peer Support Leaders, whose enthusiasm and support helped make the evening run smoothly. We’re already looking forward to seeing our Year 7s continue building these connections at camp.

Throughout the night, families engaged and heard from Transition Support Mentors and classroom teachers, gaining insight into the learning program across each subject area and how parents can actively support learning at home.

It would be great if attending families to Year 7 Family Night were able to provide feedback: Wantirna College Parent Meeting Feedback 2026 – Fill out form
