Class 5 News

Welcome to the new year!

Things have settled nicely already into Class 5.  It has been delightful to see everyone's rested faces and hear about the adventures of the summer holidays. Despite the heat, we have begun this Class 5 journey with joy and excitement. 

Our first Main Lesson is Ancient India. It is a literacy focussed lesson so we have reviewed parts of speech and types of sentences.  We will be composing narrative re-tellings of different stories from the Mahabharata and the Ramayana and internalising how they can help us in striving for meaning in our lives today. Dancing, singing, drawing, and cooking are also forthcoming!

Stories from these ancient civilizations give an historical picture of the human being in his development into the material world, which parallel the child’s own descent into the world of matter; we are giving the children a picture of their own evolving. 

Throughout the next week or two I will be able to finalise our timetable for this term and will send a copy home when I have that ready.  The date for the parent meeting will also be sent out very soon so keep an eye out for that.
