Student Wellbeing and Intervention Meeting

(SWIM) Teams

2026 Student Wellbeing and Intervention Meeting (SWIM) Teams: Supporting Every Student, Together

As we begin the school year, we would like to introduce our SWIM Team structure and share how it supports students and families from Years 7 to 12.

At the heart of our approach is the belief that students thrive when they feel known, supported and connected. The SWIM Team model brings together a dedicated group of staff around each year level to ensure learning, wellbeing and care are closely aligned.

What Is a SWIM Team?

Each year level SWIM Team includes:

  • Head of Year
  • Deputy Principal
  • Guidance Officer
  • Pathways and Performance support
  • Student Support Services

These teams work collaboratively behind the scenes, sharing information and planning together so that support is coordinated, timely and responsive to student needs.

Why This Matters

The SWIM Team approach allows us to:

  • Build strong relationships with students
  • Respond early when concerns arise
  • Support students through key transitions
  • Strengthen communication between home and school
  • Ensure wellbeing and learning go hand in hand

By working as a team, we are better placed to help every student grow, engage and flourish.

Who Do I Contact?

When questions or concerns arise, knowing who to contact can make a big difference. You do not need to have everything worked out before reaching out. Starting a conversation early helps us work together in the best interests of your child.

Your First Point of Contact - Head of Year

Your Head of Year is often the best place to start for:

  • Day-to-day wellbeing or engagement concerns
  • Attendance or routine matters
  • Social or friendship issues
  • Year-level expectations and support

If you are unsure where to begin, your Head of Year can help guide next steps.

Guidance Officers

Guidance Officers provide a safe, supportive space for students experiencing:

  • Stress, anxiety or emotional challenges
  • Social or peer concerns
  • Personal or family difficulties

They also help connect students and families with additional supports when needed.

Pathways and Performance

This team supports students with:

  • Subject selection and pathway planning
  • Goal setting and performance monitoring
  • Senior schooling and post-school transitions

Student Support Services

Student Support Services work alongside families to support students who may require:

  • Learning adjustments
  • Wellbeing or inclusion supports
  • Coordinated planning across the school

Deputy Principal

Deputy Principals support families when concerns are more complex or ongoing. They help coordinate support across teams and ensure students and families feel heard and supported.

Working in Partnership

Our SWIM Teams work closely together. When you contact one member of the team, you are connecting with a broader network of care around your child.

We value strong partnerships with families and encourage early communication. If something does not feel quite right, please reach out. Together, we can ensure every student feels supported, connected and ready to thrive.
