Year 6

The year has started in a wonderful way for our three Year 6 classes. Students are participating in the Learn, Explore, Achieve, Progress (LEAP) program with great enthusiasm. LEAP is a whole school program that works towards setting up all classrooms positively at the start of the year. It is designed to encourage and make connections between students and teachers within these new environments, to set positive expectations of both learning and social requirements within the school and it provides students with opportunities to be part of the expectation decisions of their individual classrooms. This fosters a sense of belonging and a commitment to shared goals. Everyone is taking part in ‘Getting to Know You’ activities, collaborative sessions, SWPBS understandings, creating posters for the classroom that have challenged students to think about how they learn and interact with each other and many other engaging and interactive activities.
Our Year 6 students are looking forward to many things over the coming year and are particularly eager to explore their personal development and leadership skills as the Year 6 teachers start to get them ready for their transition to secondary college. If you have any questions or comments for your child’s teacher, please feel free to email us.
