Mr Jim Noble, Assistant Head of College - Boarding

Dear Boarding Parents,

Marist College Ashgrove hosted our annual Boarders’ Touch Football Tournament on Sunday and it was an overwhelming success. All eight of the College ovals were used to facilitate a spirited competition for boys and girls across multiple age groups. 21 schools and more than 1,000 students participated on the day and they all had one thing in common – they are boarders living away from home.

Seeing the bright and distinctive colours of the many schools was a great reminder of just how special this event has become. It was lovely to see so many students catching up with friends from home who attend other schools. It was also great to see competitive touch football being played, but also a healthy perspective that everyone was there to have fun. It was a wonderful spectacle and very much a celebration of boarding in this region.

The Boarders Touch Football Tournament would not have been possible without the dedicated effort of many staff, students and volunteers. I am very grateful for this support and the day was an overwhelming success. Special thanks to Blair Whitlock, our Boarding Recreation Officer who put in an enormous effort to plan and coordinate this event. We look forward to hosting the Boarders Touch Football Tournament for many years to come.

A reminder with the end of term approaching that boarders are able to leave some possessions in their cupboard over the holidays providing it is locked. Parents are reminded to upload details of their son’s end-of-term departure on the REACH system. I know our boarders are looking forward to some time away with family and friends over the Easter holidays and I hope all can recharge after a very busy Term 1.

Finally, I’d like to extend my best wishes to all of our families and I hope you all enjoy some quality time together over the school holidays.
