Principal Post

 Dear Families,

This week our school will celebrate Harmony Day in style finishing the day on Thursday with a whole school dance and parade. We are blessed to have such diversity and inclusiveness within our school. We invite  all the families to join us at 2.30pm for a parade and dance. Some of our students, teacher's and parents will share stories on how they feel 'Safe and Accepted as me at SJV'.

This week I am attending the Victorian Association Catholic Primary Schools Principal Conference (VACPSP).  The theme is Think Engage  Lead with Strength.

Jenny Willmott our Deputy Principal will be in charge of the school.

Early Finish

Do not forget we have an early finish on Thursday 28th March at 1pm

This is the end of term 1.

Term 2 begins on Monday the 15th April.

 The Way of the Cross

All Families are also invited to join on

Thursday 28th March at 9.00am

for an end of term liturgy 'The Way of the Cross' located in the church.

All Mini Vinnies and SRC are asked to wear black clothing as they will be involved in the liturgy. Mr Rooney has sent home information to these families.

Myuna Farm

Our 1/2's went on an excursion to Myuna Farm to support their learning. They have learning about animals and their habitats and how different animals live. There was lots of hands on activities which were enjoyed by all.

Pizza with the Principal

The 'Pizza with the Principal' is on Wednesday 27th March- 6pm - 7.30pm. We look forward to seeing all our Foundation families. Pizza orders have gone through and we have organised Kelly Sports to run some games for the Foundation students throughout the night. Foundations teachers and Leadership staff will be available on the night to answer questions and share important information with the Foundation Families.

Social Justice

Our students are always looking ways to support others. Hannah, Destiny, Isabelle and Lina created lolly jars to guess how many lollies are in each jar. Each guess costs $1 and all donations are going to the Royal Children's Hospital Easter Appeal.

GEM Awards

As of next term our students will have the opportunity to win a GEM award for Gratitude, Empathy or Mindfulness. Both teachers and students can nominate or be nominated for each of these awards.

We congratulate Nirvair for winning the very first certificate. He has displayed gratitude throughout the year to his teachers and other students.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN finished off this week with the last of our students completing the tests. Those who missed last week were given time to catch up.

Our grade 3 and 5 students did their very best. We could not be prouder!

Open Day Tours

This week we had  more Open Day Tours. Research would suggest that the best marketing tool for our school is 'our parents'. I encourage you to talk with your kinder friends and neighbours about our wonderful school and to invite them to visit our school in action.

For full list of Open Days please refer to 2024 Open Days Page in this edition.

If these dates do not suit have prospective families ring to make a mutually convenient time.

2025 Sibling Enrolments

If you have a child starting school next year (2025) please ensure that  you have -

  1. Completed and returned  the enrolment forms that were sent home.

We want all  2025 siblings to be enrolled and in the database system by the end of Term 1. This assists us with our planning.

Once we receive your enrolment form we will arrange a meeting early next term to discuss your child and build a family and learning profile.

SJV Fete

If you would like to be on the Fete Committee or be a stall leader for the Fete,  please attend the SJV Fete Meeting on Tuesday 16 April at 7pm in the Felix Gavin Room. Please contact
