PARALYMPIAN VISIT
It's always exciting when we have special visitors at our school, and this Monday was no exception! The Grade 3-6 students had the privilege of meeting and learning from Wheelchair Rugby champion, Josh Hose. He was truly an inspiration to everyone who was lucky enough to be in attendance. During his visit, Josh shared valuable insights with the students about how nerves and negative thoughts are a natural part of any challenge, but that there are strategies that we can use to counter these obstacles and achieve success. He shared his own strategy of thinking about five positive thoughts that happened in his last game, which helped him to ease his anxieties and perform at his best. It was clear from the students' reactions that Josh had made a significant impact on their lives. To many of them, he was more than just a champion athlete - he was an everyday hero, demonstrating the resilience, determination, and positive attitude that we can all strive for. We are so grateful to Josh for taking the time to share his wisdom with our students, and we know that his message will continue to inspire and motivate them in all areas of their lives.
His visit was a reminder that with dedication, passion, and a positive attitude, we can achieve anything we set our minds to. Thank you, Josh, for being an incredible role model and mentor to our students!
CARLTON FOOTBALL CLUB VISIT
Wednesday was a very exciting day at our school! Blake Acres and Mitch McGovern from the Carlton Football Club came to visit, and there was a buzz of excitement across the entire school.
During their visit, the students had the opportunity to ask the footballers questions about their journey as AFL players. Blake and Mitch shared their personal stories and highlighted the challenges that come with pursuing any elite sporting career. They also shared some of the lighter moments of their football journey, providing some great laughs and insights for the students. It was clear from the students' reactions that Blake and Mitch had made a significant impact on their lives. Their stories and experiences demonstrated the importance of perseverance, hard work, and determination in reaching our goals, no matter how big or small. We are so grateful to Blake and Mitch for taking the time to visit our school and inspire our students. Thank you, Blake and Mitch, for giving up your time to speak to our students.
SUMMER INTERSCHOOL SPORT GRAND FINALS
All the Grade 5/6 students participated in the Summer Interschool program during term 1, which featured four sports: T-Ball, Cricket, Rounders and Bat Tennis. The students had the opportunity to showcase their skills, develop new ones, and work together as a team.
Out of the 7 teams that participated, 3 of them have made it to the grand final, which is scheduled for this Friday. Well done to the T-Ball girls team who will play Preston Primary at Preston, the Mixed Rounders team who will play Preston Primary at Holy Name and the Cricket B team who will play Preston Primary at Ruthven oval.
The students will be feeling a range of emotions, from excitement to nerves, as they prepare for the grand final. It's a great opportunity for them to demonstrate their skills and teamwork in a competitive setting. We wish them the best of luck and hope they enjoy the experience.
