Aboriginal Education

Our First Nations students in Year 7 and 8 had the opportunity to invite a friend to participate in the ARTucation program during Week 9 this term. Run by local organisation Youth Solutions, the award winning ARTucation program combines drug and alcohol harm prevention learning with creative cultural expression to support students in making positive choices and decisions when it come to dealing with challenges in their lives.  

Sam, our fantastic presenter lead our students in a series of highly engaging hands on activities and discussions surrounding harm prevention and artist Natalie, a Wiradjuri woman of the Wilay mob shared her cultural knowledge and skills through the art component of the workshop. Guided by Natalie, our students worked with ceramics to make pots and dream catchers, capturing themes of nature and Country.
