From the Principal

Term 1 has been busy and productive at Camden High School.

Earlier this term I outlined some of the key goals in the Plan for NSW Public Education that was released at the end of 2023, and every day I am reminded of the many ways in which Camden High School works to deliver outstanding leadership, teaching and learning. The staff at Camden High School consistently go above and beyond to provide vibrant and inclusive learning environments that drive student success, and this is reflected in what happens both inside and beyond our classrooms.

Earlier this term I received a letter of recognition from the Department of Education Secretary for the outstanding results achieved by Camden High School in the 2023 Higher School Certificate.

‘Camden High School saw an uplift of 5.9% from 2017-18 in 2023 and continued improvement from 2022 to 2023 in your top three band results. This improvement represents one of the highest improvements in the state and demonstrates Camden High School's ongoing commitment to student improvement and school success in the HSC, and the support of your dedicated teaching staff to sustain it.

Your school's focus on a strategy of high expectations and a consistent data informed approach to subject selection has laid the foundations for this success. This strategy supports our priority of providing meaningful post-school pathways by ensuring every student finishes school ready to succeed in their chosen pathway.

This achievement does not happen in isolation. It is the collective efforts of a whole school to providing outstanding learning experiences in every classroom that challenges and grows our students.’

Our swimming carnival was held in week 4 of this term, and it was pleasing to see an improved attendance rate at this important school event. Some fantastic performances at the school level has ensured that Camden High School has been represented strongly at the zone and regional swimming carnivals, and we congratulate our students on their results. Our cross country carnival is scheduled for week 10, and I would hope that our improving attendance at whole school events continues.

Congratulations to all staff and students involved in the Camden Show. As an important local event, it was wonderful to see our representation in professional and community capacities. Our pumpkins placed 1st and 2nd, our eggs placed 3rd, and our students placed 1st in alpaca showmanship, and 1st, 2nd and 4th in alpaca stockmanship.

Our school uniform makes us easily recognisable in the community and it has been fantastic to see so many students showing their pride in belonging to Camden High School by wearing the correct full school uniform, including black leather shoes. With the onset of cooler weather, it is important to be proactive in purchasing jumpers so that we uphold our high standards of uniform from the start of term 2.
