Warrandyte Festival

We have been getting excited that the Warrandyte Festival is coming up next month. The theme this year is River Creatures. Our school is once again involved in the Parade, where we walk down Yarra Street from the Wonguim Wilam playspace to Stiggant Reserve with other community groups (the road is blocked from traffic during the parade.) A big shout out and thank you to one of our parents - Jordan Adams, for his fabulous ideas yet again for this year's festival! You are a wealth of creative ideas, Jordan!

Who: our whole school community – students, siblings, parents, grandparents, carers, aunts, uncles, cousins…. you get the idea!

What: Walking down the road in the parade as a whole school. We will need to have a lot of people who are happy to hold and carry river-creature-related things for our school! Parents/carers will need to supervise their child/ren for the duration of the parade.

When: Saturday 20th April

Time: Meet at 9:15am to be ready for a 10am start for the parade

Where: Wonguim Wilam playspace in Warrandyte (just under the bridge) and look for our school group. The parade finishes at Stiggant Reserve.

Wear: anything that fits into the theme of River Creatures! Let’s get dressed up and have fun!

Parking: is always busy in Warrandyte at Festival time, and Yarra Street will be closed to traffic (including buses) between the Kangaroo Ground Road bridge and the Harris Gully Road roundabout, from approximately 9.30am until 11.00am for the Parade. Please plan ahead.

We hope to see lots of our school community walking with us!

We have been preparing for our parade in art classes, busily making a large turtle, fish, and a yabby to carry along with us. We are also planning to carry our large ACPS letters, and the giant fabric snake that previously was suspended from the stadium’s ceiling. Students and parade-walkers with our school will also be given bottles of bubbles to blow as they walk along. The more participants involved the better our presence will be!

Lanterns at the Festival

The Festival this year will begin on Friday 19th April and finish at the end of Saturday 20th April. Some of our students have been creatively painting some lanterns that will be hung around Stiggant Reserve for the Friday night – so well worth getting along on Friday night as well and see if you can spot some of students' lanterns.

Calla Collective

The lovely Calla Collective store in Warrandyte is running creative children's workshops over these school holidays, as outlined below. Kim from Calla Collective came and worked with our grade 5/6 students at the end of last year. The students really enjoy learning some new watercolour tricks and techniques and making art with this medium.
