Inquiry

This term the Foundation Inquiry unit was called Me and My Community. The following are some of the concepts students have covered in the unit.

I am special. 

Some things about people are the same.

Some things about people are different. 

My family is special.

Some things about families are the same.

Some things about families are different.

I live in a community.

My community is a place where people can live, work and play. 

We have read books about how people can be the same and at the same time be so different. We have also read books about how different families can be, we've discussed the types of things that we do that are the same and recognised that all families are special.   

Over the past three weeks, we have talked about our community and the people who help us. The students drew and cut out people they know that can help us in our community and talked about how their job helps others.

People who help us in our community:

A builder helps us make houses. - Asher

An electrician makes your power go on. - Will

A lifeguard rescues us at the pool and at the beach. - Atlas

The Principal, Mr Webber, helps us when we get hurt. - Charlie

A nurse helps people. They get a doctor if someone needs a doctor. - Alexia

The SES help us after a thunderstorm. - Ivory

Prep C has transitioned to full, 5-day weeks very well and they have continued to show enthusiasm towards their learning. It has been a lot of change and excitement for the children to adjust to, so now I wish you all a safe, happy and restful school holiday break.

Duck race 

Warrandyte festival.

to battle for the glory of making it to the finish line! 

Duck purchases online close 12/4/24 but can also be purchased at the festival at the information tent. Ducks will be delivered to your school the week of 15/4/24. 

Ducks must be returned to the information tent by 1.30 pm on the day of the race to be entered. Good luck!
