2024 House Leaders

Our 2024 House Leaders were recently introduced by our current School Captains and received their House badges. These leaders have already been supportive of our school teams in Soccer, Tennis, Girls Football, Cross Country as well as our 3-6 Sports Groups.

SSA Tennis

It was great to see our four students representing Moriac PS at the SSA Tennis Carnival at Moriac Tennis Club in February. Harry Fields, Sullivan Kahle, Georgia and Goldie Menzies each played singles matches against students from Anglesea, Mirrapoa, Aireys Inlet and Ceres Primary Schools.

Georgia Menzies made it through to the final and was the successful winner on the day in the Girls Pool A. She now progresses to the Divisional Stage at Geelong College in Term Two. Good luck to Georgia!

SSA Soccer

What a carnival at the recent SSA District event held at Torquay Soccer Club. With 2 Mixed Teams and an All Girls Team, our students can be extremely proud of the determination, attitude and willingness to include the entire squad throughout the day. Some amazing goals, teamwork and wins against other schools highlighted a fantastic carnival.

Growing Cricket for Girls (GCG) Cricket Blast Program

A recent initiative from Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria has seen 13 girls from Prep - Year 6 begin a 4 week Cricket Blast Program held at MPS. Focusing on basic skills, inclusion, participation and enjoyment these girls showed enormous courage during Week One. The smiles on their faces were wonderful to see.

SSA Cross Country

Over the last few weeks, our school has been trialling internal Cross Country for the upcoming District Cross Country at Eastern Gardens on Monday March 25th. Some outstanding efforts from all students, from those who walked the entire track alone just to finish, those who shared the run with a friend to those who wanted to better their times from years gone by. Students who were successful in placing in their age group's top 3 were recognised at the most recent assembly.

We wish all 60 students who will be representing MPS at Eastern Garden all the very best.

SSA Senior Girls Football

For the first time ever Moriac PS will be participating in the SSA Girls Football Carnival.       We have 26 Year 5/6 girls heading to the Bellarine District event at South Barwon.             Good luck girls!

PE

The weather has been relatively kind to us all during Term One. This has allowed the students from Years 1-6 to complete Cross Country trials and training over the last couple of weeks whilst also incorporating Fitness Testing for Years 3-6. The fitness testing focuses on developing an understanding on flexibility, reaction time, speed, agility, balance, power and coordination.

Our Prep students continue to explore how regular physical activity keeps us healthy and physical. This has been through games with space, time, objects and peers.
