We can't believe we are almost at the end of Term 1. This term has flown past. The students have worked hard this term and are becoming curious and independent learners! We have explored many different things in the last couple of weeks. Have a read below...

Reading 

Students have dived into the world of reading while working hard on identifying parts of books. Students understand that authors write books and there are lots of different parts that make a good story. These things include characters, settings, problems, and solutions. 

Writing

Students have become authors this week. They have taken what they learned in Reading and created their very own stories. Students have been focusing on drawing detailed pictures and recording the sounds they hear in words while making sure their words match their illustrations. 

Maths

Students have been working on modelling and ordering numbers. Students have developed skills in counting, and representing numbers in many different ways. We have been exploring subitising (subitising is the ability to look at a small set of objects and instantly know how many there are without counting them) and match it to numerals. The students have been very impressive with this skill. 

Sounds Write

We have been learning new letters and sounds this term. We have been practising how to say the sound that the following letters can represent - a, i, m, s, t, p, o and n. We are able to identify these sounds in words and blend them to make words. I am sure your child would love to show off these impressive skills! 

Wellbeing

We have been developing an understanding of different emotions and what these might look like. We have been drawing them, acting them out, and talking about them. Together, we have been exploring how we can have a growth mindset and that it is okay to make mistakes as they help us learn. We call these 'marvellous mistakes'. 

Humanities

We have continued learning about Geography and places within our community. We have focused on how we live in Moriac, but that is only the town, and we have zoomed out to the state and the country.
