Leadership
At last, we had some relief from the heat this week. Everybody was far happier in the classroom and outside, playing with more energy. It was a very busy week—school council elections and the beginning of NAPLAN.
School Council Election
We had an incredible response from our community to participate in the school election. I can report that we have two new members of the council and one member who is returning for another tour of duty.
Welcome Claire Moore and Jessica Rae Petrie as our new school council members. Craig Peebles has been returned to the council. We congratulate our new members and welcome them to this important role, which will support our educational direction over the coming years.
Retiring School Councillors
We acknowledge members who will not be returning in 2024. This year, Scott Glover and Chloe Geister retired from the school council. Scott has been on the school council since 2020. He has supported school leadership as our finance subcommittee with solid, consistent leadership.
Our other retiring member, Chloe Geister, and I thank you for your massive support and keen interest in making our OOSH program the best locally operated program. Scott and Chloe volunteered their time to make our school the best it can be as the local primary school, which is uniquely placed in Preston as the only bilingual Spanish school in Australia.
NAPLAN
This week, we started our NAPLAN assessment for Years 3 & 5. We have another week to go when students will access the mathematics assessments. The individual student reports will be available in term three.
School Photos
To make the next week even busier, we have school photos organised for Monday. Please make sure your child is in school uniform.
Buildings Update
The construction team has been very busy during the heat cladding of the gym. Yesterday, they started clearing the area in front of the admin and gym in readiness to construct our car park. It is expected that the car park will be laid over the term holidays.
