Wellbeing

Building resilience and life skills in our students.

The Wellbeing Team works to promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of students.  Students are better prepared learning when they are healthy, safe and happy.  Our philosophy is that whole-school and group preventative programs coupled with providing support and guidance to people in need will promote positive wellbeing outcomes across the school community.

We provide support to:

Partnerships

Macleod College is registered as a ‘Be You Learning Community’. We are committed to a whole learning community approach to mental health and wellbeing. Be You is a national initiative for educators, aimed at promoting and protecting positive mental health in children and young people.

We are also proud to be currently embedding the Berry Street Education Model into our learning community. The Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) is an educator-designed and evidence-led trauma informed framework that empowers us to create classrooms where every student is ready to learn and able to thrive.

The vision of these initiatives is for a learning environment in which every space is positive, inclusive and resilient, and where every child, young person, staff member, and family can achieve their best possible mental health and wellbeing outcomes.

Outcomes that we aim to achieve include:

·    Increased connection to school

·    Social and emotional skills for resilience

·    Help seeking behaviour

·    Improved learning outcomes

·    Accessing appropriate services

·    Enhance whole school community understanding of

     mental health

·    Diversity is acknowledged and supported
