Macleod College Intensive English Language Centre

Macleod College has  offered our own on-site 20 week program since 2016, providing the service not only to future Macleod College students but also to students who will go on to study at some of our neighbouring government schools. 

Program Manager, Ketty Karalis, immerses the students in an engaging and innovative program that is seeing significant results. Our centre offers a stimulating and supportive environment that encourages students to take risks and expand their vocabulary while building confidence in their new language.

During our 20 week Intensive English Language program our students are encouraged to immerse themselves in Australian culture and the English language. They undertake study in the following domains; reading, writing, speaking and listening. Grammar is supported by a range of literacy apps such as Education Perfect, Fluency Tutor and Quizlet.  Furthermore, our students also undertake study in a range of specialists subjects which may include art, physical education, music, mathematics, digital design, healthy living and science.

The Intensive English Language Centre is committed to providing authentic experiences for our students. During the program the students undertake a range of excursions and incursions to enhance their learning, create meaningful educational experiences and build positive relationships.

Students and families receive regular progress and assessment feedback during the semester program which includes; detailed and supportive Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences, a week five progress report, comprehensive mid program and end of program reports.
