Italian Update – Foundation, Year 1 and Year 5/6!

Ciao A Tutti! (Hello Everyone!)

What a great start to the year for our Italian Program!

Our Foundation students have been introduced to the Italian language via tactile games, songs and movement. Pinocchio the Puppet has made a visit, and students have been learning how to introduce themselves and express how they feel!

Our Year 1 students have revised greetings by introducing themselves to their peers via role plays, rhymes, songs and games. We have learnt new words and phrases and have continued to build on our prior knowledge of the Italian language! We are also currently working on our Italian classroom display… so stay tuned for this one!

What a ‘favoloso – fabulous’ cohort of Year 5/6’s! We are currently working on two topics simultaneously in the classroom. Students are revising common greetings and courtesy words and phrases including classroom routines and habits. Students are also learning about ‘Gli Olimpiadi Invernale- The Winter Olympics’ in Milano and Cortina. They have studied the different Winter sport names and studied geography with some of the countries partaking in this special event. Within our units, our 5/6 students are learning about macro and micro skills and how the Italian language works alongside the English and other languages! What talent!

All students have completed their learning goals for Italian. We will conclude the term with Italian Easter traditions via a song and story. What a ‘fantastico’ Term 1!
