Pancake Tuesday!!!

Last Tuesday in class, to help prepare our youngest students for their Lenten journey this Easter, we spoke about Shrove Tuesday. This day, also known around the world as Mardi Gras (or fat Tuesday) is a day we prepare for the beginning of Lent, the period of fasting, prayer and almsgiving as we journey towards Easter. It is a crucial time in the lives of all Catholics. The children enjoyed delicious pancakes as they learnt about this tradition. By the smiles on their faces, I think they enjoyed them!!

Year 1

Grade 1 Italian – Che Bello!

Our Grade 1 students have been enthusiastically exploring the Italian language with great excitement and curiosity. It has been wonderful to watch their confidence grow each week as they become more comfortable speaking Italian.

Students have been learning how to greet one another using friendly expressions such as Ciao, Buongiorno and Arrivederci. They are practising simple conversations by asking and answering questions like Come stai? and responding with Bene, Così così or Benissimo! The children have also learned how to introduce themselves by saying Mi chiamo… and enjoyed creating their own Italian name tags.

As part of their cultural learning, students explored Carnevale di Venezia, learning that it is a very important and colourful festival celebrated in Venice before the season of Lent. They were fascinated by the beautiful masks and traditions associated with this special celebration.

Through songs, movement, games and role-play, the children are building their vocabulary in a fun and engaging way.

The students eagerly participate in class activities and confidently take risks when speaking Italian. Bravissimi, Grade 1!

Thank you for supporting your child’s language learning journey. Keep practising those Italian greetings at home!

This week was busy with fun filled learning. We completed our family wall and enjoyed changing our Library books with Prem, and new AUSLAN messages. Our class theme is going wild, with the class making a river collage and foliage for the trees in the room! We celebrated in Mass and gave out our first Awards for citizenship and learning. THANK YOU mums and dad for all the wonderful support with our wild , wild children. We finished and displayed our first 'Story Writing' stories about Elmer the PatchWork elephant who teaches us about friendship.

Togther We Grow
3/4 AL working together

This week in Year 3/4, both classes continued to explore our school theme of “Together We Grow.” As part of this learning, the students worked together with their class to co-create their very own class prayer mats. We will be using these special mats during our class prayer time throughout the year. They will serve as a meaningful reminder to the students that when we support one another, listen carefully, and work as a team, we truly do grow stronger together. The students should be very proud of the care, creativity, and teamwork they showed throughout this task.

Year 5/6 J

This week during Inquiry in 5/6J, students have been sharing and discussing the influences that shape their identify, and what makes them 'them'. Our class had many interesting and thoughtful conversations about the various people, interests, experiences and values that shape who they are.

Students then used these ideas to create their own collage using images, words and symbols to display their identity. They are coming along really well!

Year 5/6 M

As part of this term’s Inquiry topic What’s Growing On? all year 5/6M students were asked to make a collage that represents them and what makes them ‘them’ and unique. They were asked to gather images, words and sentences of those things that influence their identity.

And a BIG congratulations to all the Year 6 students who at our Whole School Assembly on Thursday afternoon, had the opportunity to address the school community as part of their nomination to serve as School Leaders. Each student presented their own speech wonderfully! We are so very proud of the courage and leadership all these students exhibited. We wish them all the best!
