Catholic Identity

The Season of Lent
Students are well into their learning in Religious Education now and many classes have consolidated their understanding through play, storytelling, Scripture and application. As we delve deeper into the Season of Lent we are reminded about the journey towards Easter and the renewing of our hearts that the Lenten Season asks of us.
I encourage you to ask you children this week
What Scripture stories have you listened to in class?
How do you think this connects to your life?
What have you done to show that you are ready for Easter?
Project Compassion
Since our last newsletter, we have launched the annual Project Compassion Appeal and have had many eager students across our school share their unique ideas on how we, as a thriving Catholic School Community can raise money for those less fortunate than ourselves.
Here is a list of student-lead initiatives across our school during the season of Lent
Handmade hair scrunchies using recycled school uniforms
10c return and earn for each house colour
Fresh Popcorn on a Monday at lunch
Cool Zooper Doopers on a Monday at lunch
Pre Loved book fair in the Library
Not to mention the outside of school initiatives such as cake baking and garage sales! We are incredibly proud of our students in the genuine care and motivation they have for others.
Raising money for new stained glass windows
The Parish of St Joseph’s is investing money into a new stained glass window of St Joseph. To raise these needed funds, a very generous Parishioner has crafted two beautiful patchwork quilts. If you would like to go into the draw to win one of these beautiful quilts, please contact the school or parish office.
We will be selling raffle tickets on the Basketball Court on Tuesday 10 March 2026
$5.00 each or 3 for $10.00
Fr Patrick Visits Kindergarten and Year 6
Our Parish Priest, Fr Patrick, is always keen on seeing the students learning in their classrooms. Kindergarten and Year 6 were very fortunate to have him visit. He taught Kindergarten how to pray, told some special stories and reflected with Year 6 on the importance of the Sacrament of Confirmation- Highlighting St Carlo Acutis as a great role model.
At the end of each session, he invited all families to attend Parish mass on a Sunday at either 8:30am or 5:30pm. You are always most welcome!
Is your child in Years 2, 3 or 6?
This year, students who are in Year 2 will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Students in Year 3 will receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion and Students in Year 6 will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. These Sacraments are completed in sequential order and the requirements to receive these Sacraments is that students must be Baptised Catholic.
If your child is not Baptised Catholic and you would like them to receive the Sacraments, please inform the Parish office in the first instance.
